New engine instead of new car...
New engine instead of new car...
Hey Guys,
Not sure if this is a thread quite yet I looked and couldn't find anything to my concern/question. So I have been in the market for a new car because my 2001 Honda Civic EX is breaking down too much and I've put way too much money into it already. I was going to buy a new car but I love not having a car payment. So I was thinking about replacing the engine with a brand new engine, maybe replacing the transmission while I'm at it. Has anyone done this? If so follow up question, where do I buy and how much do you think the over all cost would be? Installation (I don't have the tools nor the "know how" to do this myself) and parts. If I do this could a sneak some performance into this also hahaha. I was thinking of maybe spending like 3-4k but IDK.
Thanks

Junk yard would have a motor.
Cost will vary depending on your location and the shop that does the work. Call around and get quotes.
Get your issues fixed and keep your motor.

When the junkyard engine is out of the car you might want to consider a new headgasket before it is installed.
You should replace the timing belt when the engine is out since it is so much easier out of the chassis.
