wow...what an awesome day
woke up at 445 got ready, checked tires and all that
we got there (my 01 vic and my friends 97 tegra ls) right when the gates opened at 630, got to check out some of the cars beforehand and get to know the people. there were about 210 cars overall in the event, and i swear like a third were sti's and miatas. i was the only one reppin 7thgen
anyway, got to walk the course a little bit, had the driver meeting and it began
my friend was up and his best time was a 41.8 out of 3 runs
my best out of 3 runs was a 41.5. im all stock except revo ss, he had 16" rims with Sumitomo tires, front and back sway and strut tower bars, and a cai (and auto tranny
which sux). i had some crappy michelin all seasons that were screaching around the whole track lol
overall it was an awesome event and i look forward to the next event in a month
we need to get some AZ 7thgenners to help me out too lol i dont wanna look like a fool out there by myself

Nice, I've allways said the hardest thing about autocross is just showing up for the frist time...
Quick solo2 tuning tip for your fwd monster.... Put the stock front anti-roll bar on, or just out right take the thing off (you can also just disconnect one of the end links). not only will the car understeer much less, but it will also have that much more corner exit grip (think less inside wheel spin). May not be the best setup for street use, but its an easy thing to do once your at the track.

They are called pointer cones, and they are there to tell you which side of the cone (the one standing) that you are suppose to pass on.... so, if you see two cones like this ^< that means you pass on the Left. if they are like >^ then youpass on the right.

ya, the Short shifter puts you out of stock.. and STS would be the next lowest class up.

Glad you had fun. Here's another pointer. If you are going to start modding do it one at a time. Every time you do a suspension type mod you are changing how the car drives. Leave it the way it is for a couple more races and learn how the car handles first. Then go with some grippier tires that fall within the STS rules. I tell you tires make a HUGE difference. This last year I was running similar lap times to a 350Z and a WRX Sti.

Its very debateable as to whats "best" but the top two tires right now are the Kumho MX and the Azenis RT-615, followed closely by the Hankook Ventus R-S2 Z212. all should do well, and you're going to have to tune your car specificly to work whit the tire you do choose...
