I was just curious of how the civic drum brakes would fare on a road course. I am wondering if the drums are easily overheated, or if there is so little bias towards the rear, that the drums/shoes do ok.
I am worried about them overheating, for example at Streets of Willow.
I have Porterfield r4-s shoes in the back right now, and I know that compound isn't at all recommended for track use, but if the drums are used little, I am thinking the shoes might hold up ok.
I was thinking of running a track pad (such as R4) up front, and keeping the r4-s shoes in the back (I really don't want to swap shoes, they are a bitch, and a track compound in the back might heat up too much).
Anybody have any experience with the drum brakes on the track? problems with shoes? What are you people running on the track? stock shoes? convert to rear disc?
I appreciate any info on the matter. Thanks.

Just from reading enough of Honda-Tech's RR/AX forum, there doesn't seem to much of an issue from it. I'm sure the compound matters, but so little braking effort is done in the back that I don't think its cause for alarm.

You probably wont have any problems with them unless you do alot of throttle on Braking. (wich you probably dont)
The thing i'd be more concerned with is Brake fluids. are you runnig Stock or a High Temp?

yeah i was kinda thinking it wouldnt matter (hoping at least).
I don't plan on trail braking, so yeah that will keep heat down.
I haven't tracked this car, yet, so I haven't changed fluilds.
If it does hit the track, I would probably go with some motul brake fluid (of some sort) - haven't looked into it yet though.
would you guys recommend stainless braided lines for the front? or have you had success with just a fluid upgrade?

Stainless lines probably won't help too much since most newer lines are pretty stiff anyways, I'd say just upgrade the fluid and the pads.+
