what tires should i get next?
Yokohama AVS ES100 205/50VR15
Blackwall Price: $74
Kumho Ecsta MX 205/50WR15
Blackwall Price: $79
Yokohama AVS ES100 205/50VR15
Blackwall Price: $74
Firestone Firehawk Indy 500
Front: 205/50SR15
Blackwall Price: $65
Back: 195/60TR15
Blackwall Price: $53
This would be geared towards more road racing. I'll stick with a set of Falken Azenis(currently) for autoXing.
The falken's get too hot too soon on the track. After about 15 minutes, or maybe less, u can't stick to your line as the tires start feeling slippery.
I want something that has a long working range on the track.
5zigen's will have the new road race tires. The azenis will go on the Slipstreams for AutoXing.
thanks

The MX. Better grip then the Yokohama AVS ES100 and the Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 (on par with the Azenis) and they deal with heat MUCH better then the falkens.
I've run on the MX before, and it's a good tire. But if you are as serious about road racing as you say you are... It's about time to invest in a more aggressive tire compound, if you want to be competitive. But if money is the biggest issue, I 2nd the MX.

^^ agreed, if you really want to go road racing well then something like the AVON Tech R or Kumho ECSTA V700 and V700 Victoracer or Hoosier R3S03 and R3S04 (the A3S03 and A3S04 are too soft for road racing and over heat quickly) There are a few others...

Firestone likes putting Big white lettering on their tires, so that the Rednecks can look cool.... the black wall ones dont have that.

sorry to dig this up a week later...but...
I've now decided to run my enkei RPF1's as daily, instead of just for autoX.
I'm looking for a tire that will compete alright, but won't wear out by the end of the season. Any suggestions?
I was thinking the yoko AVS ES100.
any help would be hot.
size: 225/50/15
price: $184 CAD (installed and balanced)

AVS ES100s lasted about 17000 miles doing double duty. If that counts to you as lasting a while, have at it... I got about 8 months out of them
I don't know what the exchange rate is, but that sounds aweful high... They should be about $80 US.

17000 miles is alright.
that's probably about a season, which is decent. how were they for heat cycling?
the canadian shops are retarded! 1010tires.com (BC) has 'em for $165 per tire.
Tire rack has them for $83 USD per tire, which is only $112 CAD
I guess I'll have to buy them from the states. Thanks for pointing that out, I probably would have just eaten the cost to get it locally...this is changing my mind.
Oh yeah: but how did they perform? were they OK doing double duty? ie: average for autoX, decent/good for street? I'm not worried about the wet traction.

Well, AVSES100s were designed for water... so whether you care about wet traction or not, you're getting it. As far as dry, they did pretty well. My whole final writeup on them is in the wheel/tire forum.
why didn't u consider falken ziex 512 at www.vulcantire.com ?

Falken 512, a High Performance All season tire, Specs.. Treadwear 420 (Rock)
I've run them before, they are good all season tire, but they are no race tire.
