RSchoen
RSchoen
ex wife current room mate long story, her very stock low mileage 99 honda civic was stolen 3/23/2020 recovered 6/18/2020 it has been modified the exaust is different from aftermarket header back the a/t dip stick does not fit i can not tell what is original. can anyone point me in the right direction?
Re: RSchoen
Are you looking to return it to as stock as possible?
Just check basic things (exhaust like you said, interior, etc). Make sure nothing is missing. People like to part out stolen cars. If I were you, I’d take it to get an inspection. The shop will charge one hour shop rate and you’ll be given peace of mind to know if the car is safe or not, and whether parts have recently been replaced (but I wouldn’t be all that concerned about some aftermarket parts).
I thought cars were written off when they’re theft recoveries, anyway. I could be wrong.

Re: RSchoen
has liability ins only was factory red now black front grill changed air cleaner assembly gone trunk lid changed it now has a spoiler exaust now held in place with bailing wire looks like the same radiator and plug wires i installed but factory manifold was changed to a header I am worried that it is not our 177,000 original mile engine if it is not then maybe it is not worth keeping if i do keep it i would need to spend as little money as possible to make it a daily driver it is drivable south carolina has no required state inspection
Re: RSchoen
I’ve read nothing that would compromise safety or the car’s ability to be a daily driver. 177k isn’t low either. You’re unlikely to get much money for it. I’d just drive it, honestly.
Like Colin said, some photos would be nice.
