My rev limiter stinks
My rev limiter stinks
Hello civic guys. I just bought a 90 civic hatch with a d16y7. I'm not sure what is all done to it but it's not exactly stock. My only problem is my Rev limiter. It usually hits just over 5k...but one time it ran way past that...any ideas on how I can get it higher? I was told it has a bigger cam, and I think it may cause of how it sounds when it idles...sounds more like a boxter motor or subaru or something...it's non vtech, bUT at 4k rpms it really takes off, like a vtech would...so when that happens and I tap out at like 5200 rpms, it really sucks...any ideas on how I can cheaply and easily make that stop? Now granted I ain't trying to over rev it and I'm very cautious of my rpms, but this 5200 doesn't seem right at all. Any help is greatly appreciated
Re: My rev limiter stinks
Check out the 1st - 5th Generation section, there is likely an article on this or do a search. Also Ezone a moderator is highly knowledgeable. Yes your red line should be more like 7K RPM which my car gets close to a few time a day
