gas milage
gas milage
New to forum. From Cali. Just bought new 2012 civic ex and only getting 20mpg city. Car has 200 miles on it. Dealer said that I have to drive it for at least a month for the car to get use to me. That statement does not make sense. I was looking for the correct topic to post. Thanks

Re: gas milage
every car will vary. the civic is generally very fuel efficient.
are you doing a lot of city driving?
what teh dealer says has some truth to it, but it is not the main reason why you are getting bad mpg.
the problem lies (99% of the time) within the person's driving habits because they have a foot made of lead... and when i tell people this, they refuse to believe because they think its some kinda of attack on them (which it isn't).
i have friends who have "upgraded" to a prius (from a 5.0 mustang) and they floor the **** out of their prius everywhere and wonder why their mpg suck...yet deny that its their fault.
so do a self evaluation of your driving habits. its best if you have someone else watch you to see how you drive. generally, you dont want to go over 3k rpm.
