New guy from lorain,ohio!!!
Hey everyone my names brian. I'm from lorain, ohio. I currently going to school for auto-diesel at OTC in cleveland, ohio. I currently have a 07 tiburon. It has a few mods. Has a good amount of hp. But im joining this forum because before my tiburon i had a 94 eg coupe. Im looking to get back into the honda game. I sold my honda because where im from there were about 250 honda's/acura's stolen. But im looking to get into the expensive honda's now. im thinking of getting a rsx type r or a integra type r. I was also wondering whats the best motor to build to make about 600hp. i have the cash i just want to know how much it will cost. thanks everyone!

A DC5-R, which is actually an integra type-r, there was never an RSX in foreign markets, won't be insurable in the U.S. for another 13 years.
A domestic DC2-R, otherwise referred to as an integra type-r is a collectors car, you pay a huge premium if you can find a clean one, and you're going to rip the engine out to build it for turbo. Since the engine is mostly what makes it special, there's not much point to buying one.
A B16, B18c, K24a2, k20a2, k20a, k20z1 or k20/24 hybrid will all easily make 600whp boosted and will hold that power for awhile with a stock bottom end.

600 HP Honda??? your talking thousand of dollors..6-10k would be minimum..Not sure if it would be worth the money in my opinion to built a 4 cylinder up that much..RSX and integras are Acuras but i assume you know this..eitherway you would have to start with an SI model as they have the most base HP..Interested to hear what people with more experience in this area have to say..

Yes i understand there very expensive car's. my brother has one for 16k its yellow and it has about 32,000miles. im looking just for something i can make 600hp. my friend in lorain has a ls/vtec he is running 10's right now. But i understand a k20 head with a k24 bottom end or is it the otehr way around? but i know the motor is about $5000 complete but how much is it to swap into a hatch or a eg coupe?
Re: New guy from lorain,ohio!!!
And a honda is cheaper to build 600hp then a evo or a wrx or any other car. But i love hondas so i want to make high Hp with about 15k into the whole car. i might be able to pick up a hatch or coupe for about 1500-2000.

Re: New guy from lorain,ohio!!!
Without including the cost of the engine and trans, depending on the chassis, $2000-5000. You could probably get an EG done for $3000.
Re: New guy from lorain,ohio!!!
Yeah i have a buddy that does all the swap this and that. he gives me great deals but im going to school for performance etc. we have a dyno at my school and stuff. i can tig and mig weld so ill probably be doing all of it at school. ill just have my buddy do my wiring and ill do the rest. But how much would i have to put into the motor to make 500hp? i want it to be reliable also not just able to run it at 5 psi i want to beat it! so everything fully built on it.
Re: New guy from lorain,ohio!!!
Well if im going to do a k20/k20 bottom end shouldnt i just buy either a si newer hatch that comes with the k20 or buy a rsx type s that comes with the k20. i heard the best is the k20z. but also i want room to work ive seen hatched with k20 swaps that have wire tuck and have so much room for huge turbo and other things. so what is the best car to get. I already know to do a kswap.

Re: New guy from lorain,ohio!!!
The things is you're not building a STi, where you really need a massive 72mm turbo to compensate for the parasitic loss to the awd drive train. A k-series will produce the power you want on a moderately sized turbo and you can make that fit into any Honda engine bay, I know someone with a boosted k-swap GD2 (fit), now that's a small engine bay.
The Ep3, DC5 and Fd2 have the advantage of stock k20s. You pay a little more upfront, but have a more modern chassis and interior stock, and save a lot when it comes time to swap.

Re: New guy from lorain,ohio!!!
Well then it would be smarter to already buy a car that comes with a k20. I meen all i would really have to do is pull the motor out and build it. i wont have to worry about it running because i pulled it out running. But i know the k20z is the best k motor you can get what car does that come in? and i always loved hatches and the newer ones are cool. i just dont like where the shifter is located.

Re: New guy from lorain,ohio!!!
The shifter is kind of fun, it just takes getting used too.
The k20z1 was found in the 05-06 RSX. The k20z3 was in the 06-11 Civic SI, you do not want a k20z3, it's an American, not Japanese built engine and is no where near the quality.
The k20a2 found in a 02-04 RSX isn't much different from the k20z1, the small power difference is mainly a result of the less aggressive cams. You can swap in K20a or k20z1 cams into a k20a2 anyway.

Re: New guy from lorain,ohio!!!
Well if i want a ep3 what years did the k20a and k20z come in? And im going to build the whole motor anyways. Ill have the whole thing built fully. just need to know the best cars and best k20 motor. but thanks alot. it would be smarter to buy a car with the k swap already if it cost 6000+ just to get it running.
Re: New guy from lorain,ohio!!!
Well since the k20a and the k20z are the best motor's look like ill be getting a rsx type s. Thanks alot now i just need to look for one. and then start building one.
