Re: :)
A lot of these "American made" parts are being outsourced to other places to save a buck. If anything, go with Napa stuff if you're looking for decent American made replacements. They seem to have better quality control than Advance. I can't really speak for Auto Zone, as I've only purchased a breaker bar(which broke) from there.

Re: :)
There are lots of things you can try to buy domestically manufactured, but trying to do that with highly engineered products doesn't work to well.
I'll also comment that Tein makes superior quality and very reliable products, but they wouldn't be my first choice if I were looking for serious gains because the spring rates aren't that high until you get into the top models, they're great for daily driving though. I have Tein SS coiovers, so I'm definitely a Tein fan.

Re: :)
Tein has huge branches on both the west and east coast, their base of operations is just in Japan. The same applies to all high end tuning products; spoon, mugen, beatrush, mines all based in Japan and cater to JDM manufactures; kw, bbs, brabus and bilstein are based in germany and cater to dubberz and other german manufactures. If you want strictly american parts you'll be selling yourself short, because you'll have fewer options and less quality parts available.

erm...
nicole... you started well, but...
you need a crash course in internet forums.
you might be comfortably sitting in your american chair in your american home, but be aware that an internet forum have members from all over the world, regardless of all talking in english. heck, an australian member just joined the other day. I myself an not american, and many here are canadians. I also just came back from canada to tn last month and am japanese brazilian living in US.
Anyway, is that opinion what you want to broadcast to the whole world to see?
Think twice before mixing nationality/patriotism with cars.
Let's just keep this to car talk, OK? it works better that way.
thanks

Re: :)
Because we had last year too many trolls coming here saying to stop buying jap cars and start buying american. So we do not like that too much. As asked, that does not sound too good, so please refrain to comment that. What works well in our cars are what works well, does not matter where they from. Remember that 85 perc of people that approves

You don’t want me to say all this stuff but it sounds like you have a problem with the US so how are you any different. Just because I drive an import doesn’t mean I have to use imported parts.

Re: :)
Ahhh, so much misunderstanding...
Whatever
All you needed to say was "ok, will not do it" and then I would give some local suspension that are good, but now I will leave to others if they feel like it... (You upset some mods of the site too, if you did not notice...)

Re: :)
Just keep to the topic on hand please.
@OP
I understand your want/need to stay within legal grounds while modifying your car as I live in California as well.
Fact of the matter is:
In the eyes of the law (California), any type of modification is frowned upon.
And I can tell you, even if you are buying American made, maybe about 25% of American made products are legal in California.
For example:
An aftermarket exhaust.
You can spend $800 on a magnaflow exhaust, completely carb legal in 50 states, made IN California, and still get a ticket.
Why?
Under California law, any aftermarket exhaust modification is ruled illegal.
If you get more specific, it must be under 96 or 98db, i forget.
The only way, to have it legal, is to have a certification stating that it is under the specified DB limits.
And the only way to get the certificate? The shops will only issue a certificate if you have been ticketed for your exhaust.
So basically, you have to beat around the whole bush just to have a legalized aftermarket exhaust, including court fees, and certification fees.
Trust me, I have researched this ahead of time.
Your best bet is just to go with parts that are highly vouched for, and trustworthy. Foreign or Domestic.
Because there are some shitty domestic parts as well.
2Cents.

Re: :)
It was sarcasm
(You throw such a big fit because I was looking for something that was made here, I didn’t say I was against anything else, other than I was looking for parts made here.)
On a side note I try to stay away from anything skunk

Re: :)
was not my intention to make it get that big. apologies from my part for taking it badly too.
hehe.
actually many seems to be driven to them, but there seems to be some not-so-good reviews?
they are in here:
http://www.skunk2.com/suspension_tuning.php
these ones are recommended by lowlife, not so sure of anyone else using them, though, but i trust lowlife, and their rear sway bar is great to correct some of inherent issues with understeer, so here it goes:

A little late, but welcome. Nice to see ladies joining again and taking an interest in modding a Civic. Good luck and sounds like you're on the right track.
Oh and you'll run into people with strong opinions on the site, don't take it personally or get offended...just kinda read what they say and don't bother responding to them if you don't like what they say. Things can get way to out of hand that way.
Again, welcome!!

It just gets so expensive to do it right
I normally just say whatever and walk away, but I’ve learned boys are mean and they don’t like being talked back too (girls don’t talk they just make sandwiches

Re: :)
with the springs you do not need sways, but we do recommend changing the shocks for ones that can handle the extra stiffness - stock ones will blow not too long after install.
Also, if you ever decide for sways, do not install fronts, just the rears.
i wrote a guide not so long ago, it's in my sig, the "suspension basics" one - not a guide that will give a brand to select from, but it gives an idea what would likely be involved in doing the mods. It also have links to another thread from robbclark - that will give more brands to select from.
g'luck!
