Brand Fog Light?
Brand Fog Light?
Do you guys recommend a certain brand for fog lights? All I have read were "eBay ones are good". To me that sounded a little to broad. I have searched and i found a few brands that stuck out. Let me know if you have had experience with these specific brand and give them a rating. I'm looking at spyder, winjet, and spec-d fogs.
Much thanks,

I'm in the same boat. The switch is a big issue too... if you have an EX, there's a possibility of it being too big. HandA sells an OEM kit, but it's over 200 bucks. Guaranted quality though...
Re: Brand Fog Light?
I checked on HandA. I have a 2005 ex se 4 door. They are discontinued. I can order a oem switch from honda but just looking for a cheaper fog light(yellow lens preferred).
Re: Brand Fog Light?
Thanks for the reply! I'll look into Password JDM. I thing I like the other style fogs better. where the whole thing is the lens. How much did you get those + shipping?
Re: Brand Fog Light?
The style depends on the year. The pics I posted are for 01-03 The full lens ones are 04-05.
I bought mine off Amazon don't remember exact price but it was under $50 with shipping.

Re: Brand Fog Light?
I'm in the same boat. I want to add them to my 05 sedan. I'm having the bumper cover taken off for a repaint and while it's all off and apart I figure now is the time. I have the full fog light and I've been looking on eBay as well. All seem like the same china crap with prices all over the place. If you upgrade the relay what one did you use? Also has anyone found a good working kit? I also went to Honda to see if they sold the kit long discontinued for 05. Thanks!

Re: Brand Fog Light?
GolNat, the fogs in your pictures look nearly the same as what one of my cow-orkers got from the internet.
I took a few pics of it side-by-side with a NOS HONDA accessory fog (Stanley)
Notice the reflector around the tip of the bulb in the NOS
The actual SAE number on the NOS lens
The name STANLEY and part number on the black trim ring
I didn't get pics of the backside of the units, but the Honda one has the name HONDA and STANLEY molded into it.
Also not pictured, the gaps in the sealant between the lens and body of the aftermarket unit. Looked like it would eventually fill with water.

And the most important part that counts, the beam:

These were just held about chest high and pointed at the shop floor.
Aftermarket units beam on top. Looks more like a floodlight to me. If there was really any fog, it would suck as a foglight.
Honda unit has a nice almost perfectly flat beam with the hot spot in the center.
Guess which one will actually do the job of a foglight.....

Re: Brand Fog Light?
Great pics ezone!! The beam pattern of the none oe is garbage. Yes, the cheap eBay kits require some silicone around the lense to prevent leaking.
Any relay is better then the one that comes with it but I used a Japanese made one. I doubt there are more then a few aftermarket fog light manufactures so I am sure most of the ones on eBay/Amazon are similiar.

Re: Brand Fog Light?
Can any one post up more pics of ebay brand 04-05 civic fog light. Id like to see the beam pattern pointed at a wall or floor to get an idea of what they look like.

Re: Brand Fog Light?
I picked up a set from eBay a few months back and just got around to installing them on my 05. While the set I got wanted me to run in on the driver side, I went on the passenger side with them. I had the front of the car painted recently so it was easy with the nose off the car. I can't find them in my purchased items list on eBay now for some reason. Maybe the seller got pulled off eBay? They were like 40 something shipped. Pretty straight forward install. I just had to use my dremel around the center console where I mounted the switch in the factory location. I used the knock out there. I have fog lights on all my cars but these really light up the road nice. I'm very happy with them.

Re: Brand Fog Light?
They fit perfect in the bumper. My bumper is OEM Honda as far as I know. I just had to ream out the hole gently to get the tab on the lights to fit in there. A little at a time I went till the fit was perfect. They are nice and snug. So far so good! Been through some car washes and I've washed the car many times since install. I run them all the time at night. It really lights the ground up to the left and right of the car. Makes a huge improvement when making turns on dark streets!
