Getting these darn 2002 Civic LX gauges needles off

It really feels like I'm going to break something by pulling them directly off. Does anyone know how to properly take the gauge needles off without damaging anything? Pay no attention to the missing right button. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Nevermind. I figured it out. It's much easier if you pry up the small rings behind the needles with a thin flat head screw driver. You'll make a few scuffs, but they will be behind the needles.

Good luck reinstalling them. Only way I was able to properly reinstally tach needle is because I have another source of RPM readout, and speedometer was while the car was rolling (minimum speed cruise set is 25, so that's how I set it). Fuel and temp took a bit to sit right, too
