I have a 2003 Honda civic SI HB and a couple weeks ago the low beams stopped working. My Parking lights and high beams still work. I checked the bulb it isnt the bulb cause i bought a new one tried it an returned it i checked the fuse and its not the fuse any ideas what it might be and how i can fix it? Thanks

never heard this happen on the si before, but its common for lower model civics. usually the headlight switch is fried. did you ever smell electrical burn inside the car?

If it did fry i never realized the smell... i guess ill have to pull it out and look at it. They are having a recall investigation done on the 2002-2004 honda CRV's for doing the same thing tho.

Ok I took apart the column the other day and looked at the connector that plugs into the switch for the head lights and it is fried...so now I gotta look and see if I can find a kit or something to fix it. I know they made a kit for the same problem for the 01-02 civic wonder if it will fit my car.

that would be great. I priced the connector it was like 419.00 something for the whole thing cause he said they didnt just sell the connector it self.

I saw one of the kits a while back. It had a 6-8 inch single wire with a connector terminal attached, and iirc it had a new headlight switch also.

The wire and terminal you will need to inspect at the headlight switch is pin #6 a RED/WHT(stripe) wire.

You can likely still find one of the repair kits. Not sure of the recall coverage in your case but it is a safety issue, so maybe Honda will do the repair on their dime.

I call all american honda and they took my vin and said there are no current recalls on your car so we will not cover it. I think it is a safety issue and it should be covered cause there was nothing I did to cause it to do this. I took a picture of it and reported it to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. They said they will investigate honda. But I'm hoping with the investigation going on with the 02-04 Honda CRV's they will investigate all hondas during that time frame and will find my problem too. I was hopeing to get on here and see someone else with the same car and the same problem...

Assuming the problem is with the low beam terminal and how severe of damage to the switch... ???

The parts are not very $$... You could find an kit 01-02 low beam repair kit and have your mechanic perform the work.

Might even get a better price on the kit as they should all be done by now.

I would pull the covers and have a look at the RED/WHT wire near the switch connector. The part may be sold it appears

If anyone else has this issue honda recalled the switch... Take your car to the dealer!!!
