different color hi beam lights that are always on?

so earlier today i passed a fellow 7th gen owner. he had (what looked like the same headlights i have) the spec d tuning projectors. but he had blue hids in the low beams and purple hi beams that stayed on im assuming wired into his low beams? but they didnt look like hids, they werent as bright. anyways how would one go about putting a red bulb in their hi beams and it staying on? what kind of bulb? led maybe?

you would have to make a new harness for the hid lo beams, then run the hi beams off the stock wiring. that way you can have both on. he prolly had a tinted halogen bulb in there. if you do led you wont be able to see anything, not worth losing a hi beam just to gain another park light. here is the harness you would need to make for lo beams (hid or halogen) and also which wires to hook up for hi beam. this diagram is only for 01-03 civics H4.

if you have 04-05 then you already have everything wired for separate hi and lo beams and they should stay on together from the factory (and transfer that function to the new projectors). H4 setup you can only have one filament on at a time thats why they made the lows shut off so the stock bulb doesnt overheat.

Re: different color hi beam lights that are always on?

those led bulbs are junk. wont last long and wont be very bright. im confused tho, if you have 04-05, dont your hi and lo beams stay on together if you switch to hi beam? if they do, youre done. if not, then i guess honda only used one harness and switches between them for lo and hi so then you need to build the harness. park lights were designed for 5-10w of bulbs, not 55w halogens. luminics makes several actual colored bulbs "pure blue" and "ultraviolet" that output actual colored light, not hyper white. it will not be very bright, due to the heavy coating, so i suspect thats what you saw. they make pretty much all bulb sizes, but be aware these are not road legal. usually cops dont care. you can see how little actual light they put out from the wall shot compared to stock.

and the ultraviolet

you can try the led bulbs if you want, but remember you wont have a functional hi beam.
