LED Strips
Hello
, I'm new to the site but my cousin has been a member for a few months now and let me know about you guys.
I had an Idea and wanted to ask around for people's opinions or if anyone has seen it done. I personally haven't seen it on my model civic (2001 LX coupe)
I want to get Black TYC headlights and some audi style led strips and do them up Audi style.
These are the ones I was interested in, http://www.theretrofitsource.com/pro...roducts_id=233
What do you guys think, and would it be hard to do? I personally don't see why it should be that difficult, but I'm new to car mods and I know I can be very very wrong :P
Anyhelp would be appreciated! Thanks

Re: LED Strips
It won't be that difficult to do.
You'll need to heat the headlight up so you can open it, then install the lights and re-seal the headlight. The audi style lights are becoming quite popular, but if you want my honest opinion I think they look cheap on anything but an Audi. There are a lot of other LED mods you can do that are much more functional and attractive, but thats just my opinion.

Re: LED Strips
someone did it already with tyc projectors and leds. the tycs have plenty of room between the shroud and front lens to put strips. same as the ones in your link i believe. he put his in the back but i think there is room up against the lens cover too.

Also, have you seen the Audi style lights done on a civic?

Re: LED Strips
Thanks for the visual gearbox! I was thinking maybe also go up the side as well... hmm. Now I know what it potentially could look like!
Also, im sure this question has been asked before on this site but while im here I might as well ask it, HID's will fit fine in those projectors right? Or do you add something?

Re: LED Strips
eh, the projector it comes with isnt great. its a halogen and hid kit in it looks pretty bad. most of us put real hid projector in place of the one it comes with. easiest swap would prolly be the morimoto mini h1 or d2s projectors from retrofitsource. they are small and nearly the same size as whats in there. it does require some custom stuff but overall its not hard. and way worth it. i put some valeo/audi a4 projectors in my tycs.

Re: LED Strips
A great, inexpensive, easy start to moding your car would be LED climate controls. Search and you'll find some pics and guides on how to do it.

See what I mean with the audi style lights, they just don't look like they're supposed to be there.. thats just my personal opinion though.

Re: LED Strips
yeah i think the projector will physically fit without any cutting. you may want to poke around hidplanet.com forums. alot of people are using those projectors for retrofits. i havent seen it done in tycs before but they are the smallest projector and have the best chance of fitting.

Very helpful community haha +1 rep for you and MindBomber
Re: LED Strips
I can't believe you actually joined this site haha ... took you long enough i guess
But I'll tell you right now, you probably won't be able to afford a retrofit, thats why i took it off my list. To buy the TYC's then the parts for a retrofit would cost you around $400-$500
