Hi,

I am thinking of buying some brighter headlight bulbs for my '01 Civic and I was looking at PIAA 15962 H4 Style Super Plasma GT-X.

First off, would these work/fit in the car?

Second, are they the brightest I can go while not making an modifications to the car?

nah, the brightest by far are the H4 philips XP bulbs from www.powerbulbs.com and theyre only $30 on sale now for a pair. they are much whiter than stock. they won bulb of the year twice in a row. beats any piaa bulb hands down.

Why would you not just do HID plugins? Cheap and effective.

I dont have the time nor do I want to spend the money to learn how to and to make any modifications to the car. I just want a simple fix.

Gearbox, that site you quoted gives rates in British Pounds... Or am I missing something?

Also, I didn't see them advertise the 9003 bulbs. Perhaps I didn't look hard enough or something but what the deal?

Sure they do, just re-aim your headlights. It takes a few minutes and even a complete n00b can do it. I've been running plugins in my truck for 2 years and I never get flashed because I lowered the headlights some so that it dosent glare. I also run them in my IX in the fog lights.

9003 and H4 is the same bulb. they have it. and you can convert pounds to dollars, just say display price in usd. it comes from europe but usually i get the bulbs in a week or less.

the blue color luxury cars have is not from the bulb but from the projector unit. the shield inside will bend light and sometimes you get blue and purple, but only as a thin line at the top cutoff. the actual light output is still white. you cannot get the blue from a reflector like our cars have. physically impossible. and getting a blue colored bulb will make all the light bluer and also reduce its intensity.

Thats why I use a 6000K plugin, still mostly white, but blue enough to look blue while not being overly blue and tacky. Also aimed just right and I never get flashed!

yeah thats really the only other way to get the color without going projectors. 6000k hid is mostly white with some blue tints. but you wont get the same effect with a blue coated halogen bulb.

i don't see a 7th gen in your sig. you have an evo and a ranger. both of which have completely different reflector patterns than the 7th gen civics. PNP's have been tried numerous times (of course some still on the road) with horrible glare problems as the result in 7th gens. some reflector housing do really well with PNP kits (8th gen's do if i'm not mistaken) but 7th gens don't. so the generic statement of "get a PNP, they're great" doesn't always hold true. depends on the vehicle and the housing. i'm not saying that PNP don't work, but results vary greatly between each type of car.

More than likely, I've lost track of all of the front wheel drive cars with bodykits and fancy lights that I've done HID's in. I only remember the ones that stick out in my memory (for example, NSX - you get the idea)
