Best Headlights
I am looking for a new set of headlights for my 02 civic coupe. I do not know what to get and just recently purchased my Honda and could not be happier, I just want new headlights.
Also, if someone could tell me a good tint to get for a gold colored Honda.
I'm looking for Limo tint all the way around on all 5 windows.

Re: Best Headlights
why dont u just get a new set of oem headlights and black them out? just search for BOH or blacked out headlights. That seems like the popular trend since it looks nicer than any aftermarket you can buy. (opinion)
or you can try to black out the ones u currently have now.
i think tint is up to you and up to your local laws. I know if i had limo tint on my car I would be pulled over very quickly here in CA.
most people do 20% - i have 35%

Re: Best Headlights
i would just do your tint the same % all around.
and SSM'ed would look unique - though i dont know if they'll stand out as well as blacked out ones. I saw a white out one on a white car and it looks fine.
i guess i have a blacked out one on my black car and it looks great.
go for it

Re: Best Headlights
I'm not putting blacked out headlights on my ssm sedan. Just not going to happen. I think it looks tacky and I don't want them to stand out.

Re: Best Headlights
An 02 Civic has a bulb size of H4, right?? because i was looking at Xenon HID High Intensity Discharged Conversion Kit Complete Set. Would that work?
As you can tell, I am just trying to learn as much as possible about my car. I want to find the best value on the best lights as well as other items for my car (including types of Tint and a CD deck)
If you guys can point me in the right direction, that would be sick.

Re: Best Headlights
yes, you can switch ur stock lights to a plug and play HID kit. I have a set on my car. It's good, but retrofits are a lot better. Plug and play kits tend to have a lot of glare and the output shoots all over the place. I would reccomend it - personally - though just make sure u aim it down and not in the face of cops.
i think your best bet is to go through the picture thread and if you like something ask what it is- its hard to steer you in the direction unless you tell us what you want and how much money you have.

Re: Best Headlights
i think it would look very similar to my setup, which i really like. looks better than BOH's IMO.
my thoughts exactly. i've never liked the look of BOH's, especially after i saw them come stock on some Chevy's. looks cheap if you ask me.

Re: Best Headlights
Aside from electric130's tyc headlights that are painted satin silver metallic, I have seen no other headlights (stock or otherwise) that have been painted ssm. What I'm talking about is taking blacked out headlights and replacing the black color with ssm.

Re: Best Headlights
i saw one pic in member rides of ssm painted headlight. it looked okay, but you will always get that look like it doesnt quite match cause the lens cover makes it look different in the sun. maybe if you take it to a bodyshop and have the whole pro job done to it with clearcoat and all, but rattlecan i dont think would look good.

Re: Best Headlights
mine's rattlecan. has looked like a good match in all lighting so far. even if it was off a bit, i still think a color that matches your car looks better than the BOH. only time BOH looks good is on a black car IMO.

Re: Best Headlights
for sure. i had boh on mine for maybe a month before i started to hate the look. flat black boh esp looks cheap. i actually really like that silvery smoke chrome that comes on the tdm headlights. a long time ago someone did a retrofit in those and it looked so good. wish i saved the pic.

Re: Best Headlights
I got the high intensity HID lights and they have great output without going to a HID system in my civic. These Bulbs are great, easy to replace, affordable and carry a 10 year warrenty so you can't really go wrong, plus many places carry them.

Re: Best Headlights
not if you reseal it properly. just use the oven each time to take apart and put together and they should go back fine using the factory sealant.
