TYC Projector Retrofit
I have valeo H7 projectors retrofitted into my TYC housings. I wired up my HID's and hooked up my wiring harness. I went to aim my lights and the driver side projector was fine but the passenger side was slanted big time. The cutoff is sharp but its not straight. It starts from the bottom left and goes to the top right. It doesnt run straight across.
I also noticed that the projectors are labeled but their on the wrong side of the car. Ex. Driver side is on the passenger side and vice versa. Would this have anything to do with it?
Also I have researched this but what do you guys do/use to aim your projectors with? Any easier ways?
Would it be beneficial to color mod these projectors? Or just leave the stock cut off?
Thanks guys!!
Picture for reference

Its not that bad but that resembles what it looks like.

Re: TYC Projector Retrofit
i had the same problem when i did my retrofit, but luckily, there is an easy fix. what I did was got a 2.5 inch #6 screw and drilled it through the bottom of the housing. I then attached it to an "L" bracket coming off the bottom aim screw. I then used a spring to raise and lower the projector to the proper rotation. heres a pic of what it looks like

hope this helps. lemme know if you have any questions
as for the colormod, the easiest way is to slightly bend the shield towards the bulb. I did this maybe a mm and here is the color i got out of mine (projector is from a bmw e39 m5). another way to do this is to place a washer bw the shield and the reflector on the bottom mounts

this is at about 25-30 feet away

Re: TYC Projector Retrofit
yes sir.
Yeah i think i have it fixed now i removed the projector and put it back on worked with it.... its now pretty straight. I just need to aim them. Too light out right now to do that.
You think its worth color modding them?

Re: TYC Projector Retrofit
i'd love to color mod the projectors i get for my retro fit! like i said in another one of my threads, not only do i wanna retro for more visibility, but for aesthetics also. So if people see more blue, that would be perfect!
i'd rather them see blue that white

Re: TYC Projector Retrofit
had my projectors aimed beautifully. Then i resealed up my TYC's and installed them, now their off!!! This is so frustrating!! What can I do?
I had to push up on the housing to get the side bolt in by the fender. I believe that caused the projector to move causing it to aim wrong. I dk what to do and any help would be awesome!!!
Thanks guys

Re: TYC Projector Retrofit
Hey guys just came across this post. I too am currently trying to retro valeo's h7's into tyc's. im at the stage of putting the projector in. i actually broke one of the original mounting/adjustment screws one of the too and im at a lost for how im gonna get this in. Was wondering how you got yours in and how you set it up for aiming.
Thanks
Thanks
Re: TYC Projector Retrofit
when you are aiming them, put the bumper back on. youll notice the bumper hangs from that bracket below the headlight, which causes the light to come down a hair. i aimed mine twice without that on and every time i sealed it up and put everything back together, it was too low. also, once you get your screws where you want them for aiming, locktite them to keep everything from moving. just make sure theyr perfect bc it makes aiming them a bitch if they have loctite on

Re: TYC Projector Retrofit
LOL yeah. I got them fixed. Their aimed well and everything is back on. I mean their not aimed 100% precise but their pretty damn close.
Re: TYC Projector Retrofit
yea mine arent perfect, but nothing you notice unless youre looking directly at a wall, and if im driving and theres a wall infront of me, my headlight aim is gonna be the least of my worries

Re: TYC Projector Retrofit
i get the rotation of my projectors right, then i seal up the headlights.
then i take the bumper off and leave it off. i've never had the aiming affected by the bumper being back on. if your mount bolts are tight, the housing won't move, so the bumper shouldn't matter. this has been my experience.
i put the finished lights on the car, get all the bolts in loosely (make sure you get them all in before tightening any), tighten the bolts down as they will be permanently (to include pushing them around to get the mount bolts in), then check the aim. remove, adjust aim screws, remount, tighten and check aim. repeat till everything's right. there's no point in putting the housings on the car loosely to do the aiming because that's not the way they'll be in the end. it's more of a pain to do it like this, but i've gotten better results. i've had tape marks on the wall for aiming, and the headlights will stay in the same spot whether the bumpers on or off.

Re: TYC Projector Retrofit
dude i have been giving it out, system just is hating on you I think. Ok you can earn this now. What stock halogen bulb size is the TYC? I put them on the car and love the look of the black housing on the black car. Looks nice and slick. I just was wondering if I could get a brighter bulb for it without having to go HID? They are fine the way they are and are brighter than my stock housings, but I was just curious.
