HID Plug and Play Kit install

Hey everyone, I just got my ebay plug and play HID kit. It is a H4 6000k kit that I plan on installing in my 02 lx sedan with stock headlights.

I was searching for a DIY, but unfortunately I couldn't find one. I have taken pictures of the kit. These are the first 3, but I took about 17 more with all the parts up close.

Can someone help me out with the installation process?

Thanks in advance

Re: HID Plug and Play Kit install

you bet. the wire with the red stripe around the end is your power wire. Attach this to either the positive terminal of your battery or to an open fuse in the box right behind your battery. the 2 long wires with the amp connectors go to both ballasts. there is also a ground on each on of these. attach that to the screw on top of both headlights or get some self tapping screws and attach it to somewhere on the chassis. plug your harness into one of the stock plugs. if you are looking at the stock plug so the holes are in the shape of a triangle, your slot on the right is your 12 volt source, the one on top of that is your low beam ground, and the one to the left of your hot wire is youre hi beam ground. plug the amp connectors on the bulb to the corresponding amp connectors on ballast. check that everything lights and throw em in the housings. hope this helps, lemme know if oyu have any more questions

Re: HID Plug and Play Kit install

the bottom terminal with the red sleeve goes to the battery. the two connectors off the main harness with the yellow gasket go to the ballasts. the ring terminal off these gets grounded. the last connector is the problem. from your first pic, it looks like a 9006 connector, not an H4 connector. seing the same type of connector off the bulbs, it looks like you got a 9006/9005 harness, not an H4 harness. the bulbs look to be low beam only though, so as long as the base is H4, then you'll be fine. you just need to either put an H4 connector on there or you could just go with some spade terminals. this is where i got my H4 connectors when i made my harness:

Re: HID Plug and Play Kit install

oh yeah, if you are using the low beam only, that rubber boot with the black and blue wires can be removed and so can the wires. you won't need them. that's if you were putting these bulbs in a housing that had a seperate high beam.

Re: HID Plug and Play Kit install

like electric said, the easiest way to use this harness with an h4 plug is just to pull the 9006 (or whatever is on it) off and just use a simple spade for your power and ground. they cost like 99cents for a pack of 6 at home depot.

Re: HID Plug and Play Kit install

Thanks for all the help guys.

From your instructions, this is what I have....

Does this look correct to you?

So they gave me the wrong wire harness? Is that something I could buy at a local store, if so what type of store?

I have also attached up close pictures of the two terminals circled in the picture.

Re: HID Plug and Play Kit install

They came with some general instructions and for the most part I could figure out how they went together. My biggest question was how to plug the wire relay in since the plugs didn't match. Thanks electric130 and chawski for the help on clarifying that.

Re: HID Plug and Play Kit install

Sorry for the bad picture, that close up is of the right circled plug on the relay with the notes I made. There is only one of those. So that is the plug that should be the H4 plug(but in this case it's a 9005/9006) that I plug into my stock plug? Thanks again

yup looks like it (cant tell 100% from the blurriness). youre gonna need to cut that off and put on spades on your positive and negative and plug them into the stock h4 harness

yup. black is ground and white is positive. you can either cut it off and put some male spade connectors on there, plug it in to your stock wires and put some electrical tape around it to prevent the power grounding out to some metal, or you can put a male H4 on there. the latter is what i did, then put some dielectric grease on the connection to keep water out. oh, and you'll only use one of your stock headlight connectors if you didn't figure that out. the other one i just tied up out of the way so it wasn't flopping around.

Re: HID Plug and Play Kit install

Thanks again chawski and electric130. I had planned on doing it this weekend, but I ended up working O.T at work. I was thinking of just doing the spade connections, but I was kind of worried about shorting them out. I think I will go ahead and order the male H4 plug, or maybe the vendor will send me out the right one. I will post pictures once I complete them, even though you guys have probably already seen them 1000's of times.
