Pirate Eyes HIDs - DRIVING ME NUTS

What's going on guys. Here's the story: 2 years ago, I bought a set of VEROX (not a famous brand I'm assuming) 8000K diamond white HIDS. Before you start flamming me for being an idiot and buying a worthless 8000K, I'd have to tell you that I was a novice at that time with HIDS . After the guy installed it and turned it on, I noticed only one bulb was turning on. I was like DUDE!! what's up with this?? And he said the ballasts are new and need time to break-in or something like that . So he turned off the lights, then turned it back on and finally both lights worked. So..... it's been two years and this intermittent problem still happens and I have to turn off the headlight switch, then turn it back on for both to work, otherwise only one bulb will light up. I don't mind turning it off and on for it to work, but this month, I've been having to do that about 2 times on average and it's driving me nuts. The HIDS still give out very good lighting, I just don't know why one will light up at initial start up and the other won't. ummm Thanks!

I would say it's the ballasts that are defective. Take it back or get an exchange. FYI turning HID on and off will depreciate the bulb quickly. The HID bulb uses a certain amount of power to fire them up and after the start up it will lower. If you turn then on and off without giving them a break you will damage them permantly.

I wish I could, but the warranty is over. This morning, the bulb that didn't light up started to making flickering and buzzing sounds for like 30 seconds when I turned it on! That same damn bulb didn't light up until I turned it on and off twice. Ahhhh!!! The buzzing and flickering noise sounded like electricity about to spark I toggled the wires a little when it was off and the buzzing sounds stopped. They light up fine from time to time, but this is getting annoying. If it can't be the ballasts, can it be the ignitor? Or even the bulb itself?

first answer if the ballasts are taking power directly from the battery and not the stock harness. If it is, then there's your problem. One might only light up because the stock harness can't ouput enough amps for both ballasts. The flickering might be the bulb dying since you been flicking them twice for 2yrs.

crappy hid + crappy installer idiot well what does that give you. imo, just find a better kit and install it yourself. Even if you manage to fix it by making a new harness, the bulbs are already messed up.

It doesn't seem to have a relay. Just basic plug-n-play from what I see it. Does a relay really help? If it does, can someone direct me to a link or show me how to install it? Major discovery today by the way - I don't think the ballasts or ignitors are bad. I traced it down to one stinking light bulb. The one that always does not light up on the first try, well I swapped the two bulbs from the left and right headlights and the one that never works on the first try still doesn't when it was swapped. ahhhh so complicated. I'm gonna try to get new bulbs. My HID system says "8000K" on the box, is it fine for me to use 4300K bulbs? and will the connections fit with my current ignitor and ballasts??? Thanks for still posting and not leaving me hanging.

looks like you need to make a whole new wire harness. or you can buy and custom rig the one from suvlights.com. main point is to get power directly from the battery. the stock wires are used only to send a signal that opens the relay so power goes from battery to igniter. i'm still not sure its the bulb. maybe the ballast connected first is just getting more power. and yea you might be able to get new bulbs, just make sure its the same kind.

Yea, come to think of it, our stock harness sucks at power output. I'll be ordering a new wire harness with relays and see what happens. I'll update once I get the harness installed. Thanks for the help guys.

make you own relay harness
also u can put 4300k bulbs in if u want....make sure u get the pair...
and make sure the bulb output fits to your ballast....
u can buy the relay from autozone or any auto store....then u gone need 12 to 16 gauge wires......u want to put thicker wire for your battery let me link u
http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/view...r=asc&start=50

i would connect the ballast stright to the battery (the one giving u problem) see if the ballast is working.....some time it can me the ballast go bad cuz ballast wasnt getting enought power.....

Link looks good, but I don't have the time or skills to be doing it myself. The only thing I know about relays are that they are "on/off" switches , other than that, soldering and messing with relays is beyond my realm of expertise.

I'm thinking of getting either one of these:
Choice 1:http://www.suvlights.com/product_inf...roducts_id=112 <--- Gearbox's suggestion: A little pricey, but I guess you get what you pay for.

Choice 2:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...3ARTQ%3AUS%3A1 <--- Seems of marginal quality and price

Choice 3:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Harne...spagenameZWD1V <--- Looks okay, except for the fact that the seller lacks some grammar and spelling skills don't know if I can trust a product from someone like that. This product would be my last resort.

What do you think?
