DIY: Retrofit TSX Projectors

A retro-fit is pretty much using your creativity and making either HID/Halogen projectors or HID reflector bowls fit into your stock headlight housings or aftermarket projector headlights with halogen projectors (ie. TYC etc.)

First you will need to know some background on taking apart headlights. Most headlights are the same and have the same concept. So master it first. I couldn't find the link for the 01+ headlights but the new headlights' instructions are similar.

http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=203502

Main materials recommended (varies depending on your creativity):

1. Projectors either HID or halogen or even HID reflector bowls (designed for HID, will still have a nice cutoff, however, not as great as true HID projectors.
2. JB Weld
3. Hight temperature silicone
4. Philips and flat head screw drivers
5. Dremel (most important tool when doing a retro-fit, will probably use 95% of the time)

__________________________________________________ ___________________________________

First obtain projectors reflector bowls from a headlight that has them. Currently, S2000 and TSX projectors are most people's favorites. Wonderful cut-off and beatiful colors when modded.

In my case, I purchased TSX headlights and ripped them apart, since I only want the goodies. (can salvage TSX projector shroud and other few goodies if you want it, dremeling and cutting needed)

Next here is some creativity may come in handy. Frabricate or buy some shrouds/bezels that will fit nicely around the projector. Strictly for aesthetic purposes. Shrouds can cost a lot of money so I decided to fabricate my own. I bought some items at my one stop shop (ACE hardware) for my shrouds/bezels. Two stove/range covers and two flanges. Some people have used ABS reducers, soda cans, cups, dog bowls, etc, you name it.

Then, cut the stock housings large enough to fit the projectors in. You may use screws to mount them down to the housing, JB Weld them, or both. (BE SURE TO AIM THEM FIRST BEFORE SECURING PERMINANTLY ONTO THE HOUSINGS!)

Aiming information can be found at this link: http://faqlight.carpassion.info/hl-aiming.htm

You may customize the rest of your headlight while you have it all apart anyways. Here is a picture of mine...

Reverse the process and reasemble everything back together and you should be set...

Well here's an update. I bought some items at my one stop shop (ACE hardware) haha for my shrouds. I just need to finish the shrouds/bezels and mount.

yeah i can help out a bit. If your going to use the e55's though, i have to warn you, your going to be doing a lot of cutting because the soleniod is so huge. I would suggest getting a second pair of headlights. This isn't a weekend job, especially if your gonna use the oem reflector headlights.

The more time you take to plan it out and setup and doing the alignments the better it'll turn out.

For those of you that are interested in doing retro fit, my cousin works for Xetronic and they make kits that come with ballasrs and D2R D2S bulbs. All their HID Kits are japan made, 100% water proof and he is the sales manager there. Also, you get a 2 year warrenty on ballast and 1 year on bulb. There is an actual warrenty certificate but you have to get it installed by a tech. hit me up if interested...

That's pnp kit, not retrofit by putting D2S projectors into halogen hosing.
Sorry, If you/ Cousin is planning to sell multiple items, get vendor license.

I know you are trying to help local 7thgen members, but it's one of site rules...

7thGenerasianCivic, Did you win those headlights off ebay? If so, you may have one that i was bidding at lol.
