PHILLIPS hid kit HELPP!!!!

i just bought a used phillips h4 hid kit. Its a plug and play kit just for some background. The power wire that connects to the ballast, shown here http://www.coolbulbs.com/images/hid/...BALLAST-02.jpg its where the red plug connects to the ballast. Well when i turned it on for hte first time my driver side didn't turn on, so i turned it off and turned it back on. This time smoke came out of the driver side ballast. It turns out that the power wire just totally burned. My question is, can i buy the power wire separately? or do i need a new ballast?

can anyone tell me what i did wrong. Its a plug and play kit so all plugs just plug right into each other. the passenger side turned on fine, but the driver side had problems. Could it be i didn't ground the driver side correctly??? help!!!

it could just be a bad ballast

the p32d (red connector) dongle can be found on xenondepot's website for i believe $25. all you need to do is solder the dongle onto the old ballast's wiring, but this may not fix your problem.

often times in phillips and hella balasts there are little fuses on the inside...a lot of people dont know cuz they dont wanna take a balast appart...its just that the fuse blows in the balast and its hard to replace and people dont know and bam u have yourself a bad balast

You mixed the wires. Red apparently doesn't always mean +. Mine came labeled backwards. Luckily they just didn't turn on. And yes you can buy wires seperatly. Just ebay it. And make sure your connectors are coverered when you put them on.

I messed up the wires? on the box it tells me to connect the red wire to the battery and the rest of the harnass goes to the ballast and bulbs. The wire that burned was the wire connected to the actual d2r bulb. Red on my harnass has to be to the battery since there is also a fuse connected right on it.

Is it a plug and play kit or hard wire system. I would never go direct to the battery. Too much chance of a spike. Um check to see if any of the wires were frayed. You might have grounded the wire out. If its burnt you might not be able to tell though.

its a plug and play kit. It has to go directly to the batter for power. its a plug and play harnass actually that fit into hella/phillips ballast. They are found at xenondepot.com
