wet sanding headlights?

Has anyone wet-sanded their headlights?

I see a DIY here:
http://forums.clubel.ca/showthread.php?t=13003

Basically, I find mine are pitted to hell... Could have been crap baked into it when the headlights were put into the oven (I blacked them out once).... Could also be that I was an idiot and used the ice scraper in the winter to scrape ice off

Any experience, comments?

Looking at those pics, it still looks pretty darned cloudy...

wet sanding will lead to a lot of polishing compound purchases. you'll also need an orbital buffer/cutter so your arms won't fall off. i've tried to wet sand my headlights by hand, but gave up after 2000 grit and still having a crazy haze. polishing compound didn't help especially since i didn't have anything to apply it with other than my $20 crapbuffer from advance auto and a terry cloth.

So basically... If I were to sand them down, would they *always* continue to haze up, say after 1-2 car washes? i.e. every once in awhile they will haze up, and I will have to apply the polish crap?

One of those links mentioned 'plastic polisher'.... I'd assume that to be a liquid polishing wax with micro abrasives.... ? I dunno... I may just leave it as is, I would rather not apply polishing compound all the time...

no. it's a one time deal (if you get it right that first time). the plastic polisher is like meguiars plastx. it clears up the haziness of the lens, but then you need something that works better than plastx.
