HIDs in Riverside/Moreno Valley Area

Hey guys, I just got some HIDs from Cipher. When they came, I plugged them in but they don't "seem" to work. They won't turn on. Neither set (left/right) would work.I was wondering if anyone from the Riverside/Moreno Valley w/ HID experience can meet up with me to check out the lights. I'd really appreciate it. Hell, I'll even offer lunch. Check out the pic:

did you attach the hot and ground wire to the battery and attach the male end of your h4 to the female end of the h4 on the car?

It looks like a cheap retrofit to me. It looks like he sealed the bulb and the ignitor into the headlight. What are you going to do if your bulb dies? Your going to have to take apart your whole headlight. I dont even see a fuse on the ghetto harness he made. If there's no fuse you run the risk of blowing out your ballasts.

I suggest getting your money back. Your going to end up in lot of trouble in the long run.

this is a good site to learn the HID basics.

Yup, I connected everything as you say. The retrofit looks okay. It's a sonar projector with Valeos. I can even adjust it. Taking the stuff in and out wasn't too bad. I took it out today.

So I tried every combination of ballasts and bulbs and it doesn't seem to work. I'm gonna try to meet up with someone to verify whether if ANYTHING is working at all (bulbs or ballasts).

ANYONE FROM THE SOCAL AREA WILLING TO MEET? PLEASE?

Well...any other ideas how I can test it out?

Oh yeah, I will work on making/buying a wiring harness.

you should PM turtle714. He's done his own retrofits and he lives in the OC area.

if you connected all possible connections, then the ballast or bulb might be bad.

is it a hid kit or a retrofit. d2s or some rebased bulbs?

Hey gh0st,

I've connected everything. I know it doesn't have a harness but it should still light up. I've tried all the possible combinations of bulbs and ballasts but not light at all. Possible that both ballasts are bad or both bulbs are bad. Are you from around here (SoCal) or do you know anyone from around here that can help me test these bulbs and ballasts out? I'm getting desperate.

Oh yeah, they're a retrofit, D2S with connector to H7 (so that they can fit in the valeos). I've taken the bulbs out of the projectors before testing also. (not shown in pic)

It's also possible that your fuses are blown.

As you might be able to tell, there aren't any fuses on the setup. I know it's bad for my electrical system, blah blah...but when I plug the H4 plug back into the stock lights, the stock lights work fine. Any other ideas, suggestions, or people from SoCal who wanna meet up?

Hmm...I don't think we're on the same page. What do you mean look in the fuse box? The fuses aren't blown because the stock lights work fine when I plug the H4 plug back into them.

Wanna elaborate infinite?

I know where the fuse box is. But what about it? What do you want me to do with it? Are you suggesting the ballast doesn't ignite up because i need a bigger fuse in it?

I was suggesting that the fuse might have been destroyed when you tried to pull massive current through low-rated wiring. Your stock Civic headlight wiring does not support the large draw of power that the HID ballasts pull on startup.
