SWAP: reverse to rear fog
id like to use one of the reverse lights as a rear fog
i could just swap the bulb out with a red bulb, but theyre never a true red...
maybe ill get some transparent red vinyl to put over the lens and then tap into the wire
any thoughts?

that would look like garbage, especially at night. real rear fogs are very bright and on the bumper. it would look like you have really strange lights at night and one side is burned out. thats the riciest think i've ever heard of.

jaguars also have this feature, but both of the fog lights light up.

this is true. but then again, no one would expect to see a third light in the rear and that will probably catch their attention.

FYI: rear fogs are not always mounted on the rear bumper

if you really want some bright rear fogs that would look decent, I say convert the turn signals (both) so that they stay on constantly with the parking lights. They will be alot brighter than the parking lights. Then when you signal, it will start flashing. That would be easiest and would involve simply wiring the bulb ground to the parking light wire. Only thing is it will flash out of sequence with the front signal.

haha well i'm just sayin. i wouldn't do that myself. extra lights on are usually rice or maybe thats just imo. and i think it would be illegal anyway to disable a reverse light.
Re: SWAP: reverse to rear fog
reminds me of a saab. i like the idea.
i was thinking of taking one of the turn sigals and adding a trailer brake controller. and having it work that way. works normally when off. flick the switch acts as if the "brake" light is on AKA fog light. turn on the signal and it blinks like a trailer turn/brake combo.
i dunno just an idea.

Re: SWAP: reverse to rear fog
well fyi, using a rear fog light is illegal unless the fog is VERY thick. there are visibility measurements in the laws, and having them on in light or no fog is a glare violation.
