!!!HOWEVER!!! do NOT get caught up in this "philips" binge only to get scammed by some punk on ebay selling "genuine philips 12000k hid kit" cause there is NO SUCH THING AS A PHILIPS 12000K KIT! there's only 2800k, 4100k, and 6000k (but the 6000k is only for color matching your used 4100k bulbs and are labelled "off-road use only").

and the casper shields, and you will have virtually no glare????
or what?

no. plug and play is plug and play.
oem is not directly plug and play. here's a list of what you need for OEM setup:
Philips 85126 D2R bulbs, Philips 85122 D2S (normally used for projectors, but can be used in this application also) bulbs, or Osram D2R bulb
Caspers H4/D2 adapter shield
OEM Ballasts/ignitor - the "recommended" ballast would be the Hella gen 3
Wiring harness - you can make this yourself or get one from somewhere
Install all of it properly and you will have an almost perfect reflector beam pattern with NO HIGH BEAMS.
you could probably get all of the hid equipment from xenondepot.com

look for authentic philips. if it doesn't say philips on the actual product, it isn't philips.

for example: those flashing blue/white lights you see on bmws, audis, newer maximas, s2000s, etc, are from a projector and a d2s bulb. the constant bright white/hint of blue or purple you see on older acura TLs, RLs, CLs, some mercedes, many nissans, etc, are from a reflector (like your civic) and a d2r bulb.
the way i remember it is:
D2R = reflector
D2S = not R...
