dont get a kit for H4. get D2S bulbs with a caspers electronics H4-D2S adapter shield. stick with OEM...
D2S bulbs = $75 for a pair at www.hidplanet.com
caspers electronics shield = ~$30 on ebay?
ballasts = ~$170 on the for sale/trade forums at www.hidplanet.com/forums
wiring harness = ~$30 DIY or ~$50 if you buy from someone/somewhere
it may be more expensive, but it is well worth it to stick to OEM and not get a kit that will burn out too soon and then you are stuck trying to find kit specific bulbs for the rest of your life...

hmm, im not familar with ballasts, ds2, shields, etc. i was hoping i could find a simple plug and play hid kit for h4 that will work great for OEM housing under $300-+.

I've read that some forum members took their headlights apart and installed the projectors.
So why are they needed if HID bulbs can do what they should do without projectors? What is the atvantage of having them installed?

they install the projectors to reduce glare from the HID. There will be more glare from a headlamp with reflectors in it (like ours) then there will be with the projectors installed.

Remigijus: as was stated by XSRCivic, projectors are used so that the lights have minimal to no glare at all. Glare is defined as any unwanted or stray light that shines into oncomming traffic's eyes. Glare is bad. If you install a generic ebay HID kit, then you will have massive glare and blind the living daylight (or nightlight) out of the people in front of you.
johnbt23: Totally different HID bulbs and ballasts? Not necessarily. If you stick to D2S and some sort of adapter for 9006, then I'm sure you could use OE HID.
