Question about D2S Return Rod
Question about D2S Return Rod
Hey guys,
So I've been reading around here and there, and I stumbled across an article that says the D2S return rod shouldn't touch the inside of your headlight reflector. Well mine bulb touches the inside of my projector, is that ok?...should I go and try to sand it down a bit?
Heres a link to the article

Heres the paragraph I'm talking about, its futher down the page
The importance of spacing for return wire on D2 bulb
If the return wire (on the bulb) electrically hits headlight reflector, you can risk your ballast. The igniting mechanism in ballasts are relatively frigile and start voltage can decrease from the rated 23kV. That means that it will not be aurn wire and the metal. (Notice that even plastic reflectors are considered an electrical conductor. They are chromed.) You can get away with a close distance if area is very small. But it might give unpredictable results. Its the same with lighting froime.

it's possible that the return wire ceramic insulator may crack, but that doesn't affect the bulbs' performance. if you really want to be on the safe side, though, drill a notch into the 6 oclock position on the bulb holder on the projectors. that way you will have enough room for the return wire.
