HID ballast.
Well, I'm not sure if what I'm reading is true on the internet. I've been reading up on HID ballasts, and many people have said you should only buy Philips or Hella brand ballast.
They say these ones don't break as often. I dunno if any of this is true or not. I heard Mucculloch ballast suck, and stay away from them. There's as a brand called Xtec and I have not heard anything bad about them, but some people say they are ok.
I'm still not sure if I want to do the HID conversion in my or not. I just want to know what ballast I should buy???
xtec?
philips?
hella?
mucculloch?
catz?
etc...
Anybody that has had more than one HID kit, or someone that sells these things, LMK what are good ballast.
Thanks, Phu.

xtec is an HID kit as a whole... Its a kit that I sell. You cant really get just the "ballasts"
Anyways, they are hella gen 3 ballasts, So, My suggestion would be too go on ebay and search for either Hella or Philips or Osram (all 3 are OEM eqipitment)
If you are doing a real HID conversion/retrofit then you will need D2S/D2R ballasts
If you are just going too go with an HID kit, go with a whole kit, dont find parts seperate.

Hella
Valeo
Bosch (I think)
Matsushita
Phillips
Osram
Panasonic (Same as Matsushita?)
Those are a few of the brands that I know/think make ballasts.

matters what you are doing. if you plan on just putting hids into stock housing or into tycs or something, get the xtec kit from jay (impulse) great kits at a great price. everyone here loves his kits. if you plan on doing a retrofit, also go to jay! lol, hes not paying me to advertise for him lol. but anyways retros are expensive PERIOD! i spent 220 on hella gen 3 ballasts, 200 for valeo d2s projectors, 50 for wire harness, 100 for d2s 4300k bulbs. thats already 570, and thats not including the price of labor which is 200, so that pushes it up to 770, and also gotta remember the cost of the actualy tycs. so yea retros will run you quite a bit of cash. but if you plan on just adding hids, get them from jay.
