the differences are the bulb shape/connections/prongs/housing usage etc. etc.

what exactly are you trying to understand about the bulbs??

are you wanting to convert your head light to true HID quailty like BMW's lights.

like these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...934495495&rd=1

Or do you wnat a brighter close to HID quality H4 Bulb.

Like these:

The difference:
- Hid kits: cost $200 and up.
- Bulbs: Cheap as $10 to around $100 for a PIAA lights.

well i have dual halo projectors right now. what is the output difference between the bulbs and the kit? also, what does it mean when you say "retrofit" the hids? ive seen some kits, like the xtec kits, is that different from the one you showed on ebay? ive also read something about the color is affected by the temperature, like 4000k and 6000k and so on. is there an output difference between them or is it just a color difference?
