DIY - Bulbs for A/C, Air Recycle & Rear Defrost Buttons

Hi All,

I've been searching the forums for a DIY instructions to replace the bulb inside the "rear defrost" button on the center console for a '01 Civic LX. Can I just "pry" off the button w/o ruining the center console?

Thanks.

PS: Anyone have a scanned copy of the owner's manual? Its a @#$! pain trying to get it. The dealership never has it!!!

You've got to pull the whole center console out to access the button - otherwise you WILL break it. Besides, the A/C/defrost/recirc button assembly has TWO bulbs lighting the three icons. You have to get into the center console anyway to take it out. Once you have the console out (ie when installing a deck; the DIY is easily found) then you will see two screws holding it on to the center console. Actually now that I think about it, you can pull the offending bulbs without removing the module from the console. THey just twist in/out.

Thanks for the info. Looks like I have my work cut out for me. Its wierd though that there are only two bulbs. The a/c and recycle buttons come on ok but the rear defrost doesn't. I'll take advantage of removing the center console and re-adjusting my radio. I gotta get the radio dash kit. Any recommendations? I've saw this site but i need a recommendation --> http://www.autotoys.com/x/cust/produ...id=2155&cat=79
