DIY: Blacking Out 04 Headlight's
The term, "Blacking" out headlights basically means, Painting the headlight housing, NOT Reflectors.
Materials Used:
Tape (If styrofoam peice falls off/Tape it into place)
Philips & Flat head Screw Driver
10mm wrench & extension
krylon fusion for plastic - Hyper Black
Krylon acrylic crystal clear - Hyper Clear Coat
ACE hardware heat resistant paint - Hyper Black
GE Silicone II Household Glue (clear)
The 04 body style is exactly like the 01-03 civics... You can use the DIY from the DIY page... Or by just clicking this link.
http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=155290

Warning: For a saftey concerns, I suggest leaving the styrofoam peice on... If honda put it there, then obviously it serves a purpose.
Basically follow the directions from Step 1 - Step 9
From step 9, you should have just removed the plastic cover of the headlight.
Now, While looking at the headlight with the reflector/housing, You will notice a screw holding the housing onto the rest of the light. Unscrew it, and place the screw somewhere (somewhere were u wont lose it).
Then you can slide the housing out.
You will have something like this,

(but, chrome colored) sorry didnt take a picture cause I was busy doing the DIY
From there, Take it into a WELL VENTILATED area, and spray the housing with plastic spray. Wait 10 minutes for it to dry, then spray over it with the high temp paint. I suggest using the plastic spray only one time (so that the paint will stick to the chrome finish, then add 2-3 layers of the high temp paint). Just spray enough so that the headlight is black
. You do not want it to be dripping paint! I will only take longer to dry and will leave marks.
Next, as suggested by the high temp paint, you may place the housing in the oven so that it can fully cure. Oven set @ 225 Degrees for 3-4 Minutes. (wait for the paint to dry a lil (10 minutes before placing into oven)

After 3-4 minutes remove the housing from the oven and let it sit outside for 10 minutes.
Next, you are ready to attach everything back! Get the cover and housing and attach them backtogether and put the screw back on
What I suggest to use...

Now set the oven to 320 degrees (wait for it to reach that temperature) and turn it off.
Bring the bottom part of the headlight towards the oven (the part where the bulbs attached too). Take the silicone, squeeze the tube and place the silicone into the crevise that the puddy is in (this will help 110% seal the headlights and help precent any foggage) and put that into the oven for 6 minutes.
Take it out and you will notice that the puddy/silicone has melted, or very warm/moveable. Take the cover/housing and attach it to the bottom and put the two peices together, and make sure the clips, clip in.

Take the silicone and put a layer around the SEAL of the headlight, wait 10 minutes for it to dry and do it again (this will insure that water will NOT get in).
repeat the other headlight/done

Honestly will take you like 4-5 hours if you dont know what you are doing and if you have all the supplies before you start. If you have cleared headlights before maybe like 2-3 hours.
Just do everything the right way... Read the instructions to each product and follow. Its a very time consuming DIY.

Those wondering about the clear coat...
Once the black or w/e color paint you are using to paint the housing is dry, you can apply the clear coat.
Dont apply the clear coat when the paint is wet.

ur doing something wrong. mine came apart easily after like 5-10 minutes of being in the oven
heres what gets painted

those are from a 6thgen civic SI's headlights. but u get the idea. its basically the piece that comes apart from the headlight in between the headlight and the clear cover. its right in the middle being held in by a screw. u cant miss it. just look at pictures of people's 04 05 headlights that have been blacked out before n u can tell which part it is.
