Instructions for putting HID in stock TYC???
Ok, so this will apply to anyone who has installed a hid system in thier STOCK tyc projectors.Probably someone like Impulse. I am wondering what is all involved in the process as i am ordering a hid kit on monday. I will EVENTUALLY order projectors to replace the tyc projectors but not right now, if someone can give me a rundown in how hard this is, please, let me know
thanks

if u are getting an aftermarket HID kit, get H1

I dont know what kit you are getting so, I cant explain how to install it. I can show you where to put the ballasts.

Its a helios kit. Im just wondering seeing as you at one point had the hid in your stock tyc, im just wondering how you personally did it. Like is there any wires that i have to splice or anything? Like how hard exactly is it to put the hid bulb in, on the projector?anything you can tell me will be helpful. Thanks

hmmm, Hard to explain but you gotta have the front bumper off, and they go by the fenders. Ill take pictures for you of what I mean.
Best way to crack the TYCs open is to,
Turn oven on at 320 degrees - then turn it OFF
Make sure coils are NOT RED (ON)
Then place TYCs in the over away from the coils for 5-8 minutes
Wear mits because your hands will burn
and the silicone they use will get on you and burn you
Then just use a butter nife to unclip those lil clips, and pull it apart.
I would keep the TYCs in the oven for 4 minutes and if it doesnt seem to come apart just do it again for 8 minutes. Its better to wait then to **** up a $200 product.

Im thinking about installing hid in my tyc projectors. i got a few questions? if i buy a used hid kit that was on a audi bmw acura etc etc.....how hard would it be to install in the tyc projectors and by saying this i mean the swapping of the lenses and the internal parts, if it is involed in the process. im asuming that each lens and internal componets are diffrent from every car, what used hid system is the closest match?

Ren, thats what I did. Impulse retroed too I believe. Here's a rundown of the process. Aftermarkets are nice because they're plug and play. The downside is that you're limited to the characteristics of the projector that came with the headlights. Since most of us "in the know" already understand that, we opt for an actual retrofit (factory HID setup from another car). Mine are from an Audi S4 and are retroed into the SONAR projectors. Opening up the lights can be done in whatever fashion you chose. I used a heat gun for mine. Once you have them ope, 2 issues exist. Installation of projectors and installation of a wiring harness. I won't get into the harness as there are a million sites on the internet that tell you how to do it, but I will say this: you cannot plug them into your stock harness. HIDs require more power to ignite the ballasts. Mine are hardwired to my optima and relayed back to the harness. Part 2 is fitment. Use your brain, every setup will be different and you'll need to make sure that they sit even in the housing as it will effect your cutoff line (which makes those pretty colors you all love) Eack light has one, so you have two lights to make even. It's not as easy as it sounds as mine have been off by about 3" for a year now. Luckily my projectors fit almost perfectly onto the Sonar projector mounts. I just had to make a post to hold the top of the projector back. So I already had fitmant, I just needed to adjust height on both. Seacrest Out.

HID is inherently brighter so you've got one question answered right away. How it shines on the road and how it looks throught the projector is once again a characteristic of that projector. All I can say is best of luck.

I cant answer this one. I knew how bad those projectors suck with halogens. Thats why I wasn't interested in a H1 Kit.

I just order a new set of tyc projectors because my car got hit with a foreign object while driving on the expressway. now car looks like it has a black eye. anyways im gunna take that one bad projector apart and play doctor.
RUFUS, is the s4 projector the closest fit as in lens diameter or did you just choose to use the s4 projectors?

The Sonar projectors Rufus has, Uses larger aftermarket Lenses (I believe) I had a pair of projectors that had a "waffle" pattern on them, and the projector lense was 2x's the size as the tyc lens.
TYC Projectors (What I have) Use smaller aftermarket lenses
So, If you get the projectors that Rufus has, You can put either A4 or A6 projectors in it.
If you get TYCs you can just fit A4 projectors in it (while making it look "oem").
Regarding light output, Obviously, the bigger the lense the more light... So, an A6 projector will give more light than an A4's.

The question of, Is halogen fine in projectors? Everyone has different opinions. Honestly, If they are aimed correctly and If you have a decent halogen bulb, They will put out the same light-output as oem.
However, If you line up a civic with halogen projectors to an HID projector, Well, The Projectors with the HIDs will most likley cover the light out-put of the halogens LOL (meaning the HID will literally take over ~ Main reason for me laughing while passing people @ night time that use halogens). Just funny to completley turn everything into daylight ^_^

Well........
I didn't want to get into the harness....but
as far as the brights go: You simply wire a one way diode into the harness. This way when the lights are on it doesn't send power to the brights, however, when the brights are on it feeds power to the HIDs. This is simple.
