Can someone do a DIY for...

High and low headlights being on at the same time?

Now i'm sure that if you just splice the wires into each other you can get it to work but is that safe to do it that way?

I'll paypal someone $1 if they do a Detailed DIY

sorry maybe i should rephrase my question. I'd like my low beams to stay on with my high beams. But when i have it on low, then it's only lows.
Thanks

Just pull the turn signal stick towards you and hold it there. That turns on the fars while the lows are on. Pushing the stick away from you switches to far only.

yes i know that gearbox. i hope that you were saying that trying to help me. If so thanks for the reply but i'd like them to stay on permanently when i switch to high beam w/o having to hold the stick. If you were being sarcastic then.....

Anyways i was thinking about this diy and i thought i had it. Thought i could just splice the high beam wire and split it into the low also. but then i thought about it again and thought that the juice from the low would run back up that same wire and you'd have both high/low on no matter which way you had the switch.

Hmmm there has to be a way to correctly do this since you can manually do it by pulling the stick. Any ideas anyone?

wouldnt it overload the wires? ive got 100w bulbs highs and lows in my projectors. and if they were both on it might burn up the wires! you might be able to do it if you run a wire directly to the source. <<shot in the dark i really have no idea but at least i am trying

not to mention that...

of coarse, it's gonna kill your bulb 's life for sure...

hey, wait.....im thinking in term of Sylvania ST low and high beam...

it's just plain crazy for silverstar user to turn on their high beam all the time.

1. pissed other drivers for sure
2. too bright...
3. gonna kill the bulbs...

nah...u don't want it, man..

I was just trying to help. There are also problems with this. Since there is only one bulb with two filaments, I doubt you'll be able to keep them on more than a few minutes before they get too hot and burn out. The light bulb was designed to work with only one filament on at a time. Also, having both on will drop free voltage considerably. And our cars need all the power they can get for accessories.

this kind of DIY would work on cars that have diffrent bulbs for high and low, but with H4, its the same bulbs, so i doubt it would work

and i bet that the bulb's gonna crack just at the time you do it.

think about it. two filaments, turned on at the same time. boom. too much heat.

OK since no one has posted the answer here it goes.

A diode is a little device (can be bout at Radio Shack) that allows power to pass one way but not the other. What you do is link your ligh and low beam wires together with a diode so that when your low beams are on, your high beams (though they are directly connected to the lows via the diode) , do NOT come on because the diode only allows power to pass one way. Now when your high beams are on, the diode allows the power to go through it to the low beams, thus both lights stay on. Diodes have lines on them indicating which way to install them as well. I needed to learn all this when I put AUDI OEM HIDS into my car. I didn't want the HIDs to shut off when I turned on the halogen high beams. Now good luck and PEACE OUT......

Rufus idea works well, but you should also install the relay for your H4 as well, as the factory wire will burn out quickly if you do that. Actually over in Thailand there is a kit (PIAA) H4 relay system that have the plug and goes device call "sport wing" that does exactly what you want, and yes it's much more brighter and suitable for off-road purpose, however, it makes your lamp wear out a little faster also if you used for a long period.

but don't you think by the time u use ur high beam (+the low)...it's gonna burn ur projector up?

it's a pretty neat idea though...if the bulbs don't crack....the wires don't overcurrent....

Very true, I never installed a relay and my diode gets hot as a bitch. I never run the highs more than 5-10 minutes.

Yes, sure becuase the current is at leat 20 Amps, you must have a big Diode otherwise you will blow it off right away.

So far I have tried, it's does not burn the projector, but sure it's get hotter than usual. (aussume you use a standard 65/55W bulb). however, now I use a 100/90W bulb and I dare not to have it on at the same time.
