ive seen a description of the "ion" but have never seen any on, so that's probably why i thougth that they were supposed to be blue. does anyone have a pic of these ON. thanks for the info on the HID. that was something that i didnt know, learn something everytime i get on here
Don't forget, the blue could be the bulb!
I have halo projectors and the low beam projector lens had a bluish tint to it, when there was no bulb loaded. It became even more blue, after I added MTEC h1 bulbs.
But, the blue on the bulb or the projector lens doesn't really do anything except make the light output a little whiter. The light beam won't actually be blue because of the blue bulb or the blue lens.
The wattage/temperature of the bulbs is what determines the color of the light beam. HID use high wattage so the light comes out blueish

, compare to a halogenbulb which is usually 55-65watts and their light are actually quite yellow, more like halogens, it's the projector that changes the color, kinda like shotting a light through a magnify glass Originally posted by Voiceofid
hids are 35 watts

That's from Sylvania.com
"What about HID's color?
The color of the light source is expressed as its color temperature. As the color temperature increases, the color of the light moves from yellow to white to blue-white. HID headlights provide light at a higher color temperature than standard halogen headlights, which gives them a crisp white appearance. The table below shows the color temperature of various light sources. As a reference, sunlight at noon is 5250°K"

that's the tempature of the color, not the tempature of the heat which is released by wattage
as that graph mentioned, standard hids are around 4100k color, anything beyond that, you start to lose light
