It's all about the focusing of the beam. I don't know the specifics of your setup, but if it is possible, move the HID bulb back farther away from the projector lens, closer to the parabolic reflector in order to focus the beam farther ahead.
-that's a really good picture BTW, the one from behind the car.

Those headlights need to be aligned properly!!!!! Your right headlight is way too high and your left one is way too low. Also your beam patterns are on top of one another. They need to be spaced further apart. That is why the light out put is so poor. That and because yours have a higher Kalvin rating then the ones in the Celica. The higher the Kalvin rating the lower the Lumens (light out put). 4500K owns 5500K
Do a bit of adjusting and you will notice a world of a difference.
One more thing. Your friends need to be adjusted as well. His are a tad bit too high. There is way too much glare coming off those lights.

angel them down didn't help anything at all
i can't see how you people can see with these lights, a bmw drives by me and all my lights disappear!
his car has no glare at all, that's just how it looked on the camera
Here are the 2 pics I took of my TYC projector headlights with H1 Ichikoh Velias HID I imported straight from Japan. It's 4300K and quality is in par with Catz/Bellof and Raybrig. This company makes HID kit for Lemans and also created the Subaru STI headlights and HID system.
I was going to do the OEM projector lens retrofit but resources for the parts are not that good since I'm located in Australia so I decided to just install good quality HID kit into TYC.
Beam pattern from inside the car isn't so desirable but my goal which is to have cool looking HID lights without blinding oncoming traffic is accomplished.
Let's make this thread a good discussion place for people with HID and also those who are looking to buy one.

It all boils down to... If you want the best beam pattern and color... you have to get OEM projectors and D2S bulbs... the TYC projectors ARE NOT DESIGNED FOR HID

The beam pattern and brightness when I had my HID kit in my TYC projectors looked exactly like B39OLU's. It was very bright and the cutoff was immaculate. It is all in how you align the projectors as I have been saying all along. Voiceofid, you just need to take a while to adjust them PROPERLY. Yours aren't even close to properly adjusted. If you do a search on this site you will find many threads on how to adjust them properly. If you can't find any and you still need some help, PM me. I will talk you through it. I have helped quite a few people on this site with the retrofit and adjustment of their TYC HID's.

i am waiting for my plug and play to oem bulb conversion harness to arrive, once i have them i will also show pics of the compareson between the rs6 projector, verses our projectors
i never said the cut off was anything wrong with it
but don't you people notice the lights don't go far? look at my pics, compare to my friend's projectors, it barely goes the distance
here's the pics of my projectors (also in the other hid thread in tech)

the projectors i posted above are rs6 projectors, they are twice the size of the tyc projectors, though
otherwise, i am currently using tycs with 5500k h1 hid from xenondepot.com
