Rep Power: 159 Driver side Daytime running light/High beam intermittently not working
Hello there,
Just as the title says, I have an intermittent problem where the driver side daytime running light and high beam won't work.
When the driver side high beam doesn't work, I have to switch back to DRL until both DRL light up, when it they do, both high beam light will work. But sometime, no matter how much I play with it or how long I wait, it just won't lit up until suddenly it does.
When the DRL/High beam doesn't work correctly, the DRL indicator lights up and the high beam indicator doesn't light up.
The passenger DRL and high beam work perfectly. I have replaced the driver side DRL/High Beam bulb and still the same.
Tried switching the high beam relay in the fuse box located in the engine bay, still nothing.
Located the DRL relay and noticed no clicking from it. Unplugged it, both DRL and high beam are not working.
Does the DRL relay and module control each light independently or it's the same circuit?
Will try switching both DRL/high beam bulb and see if this does anything, who knows, maybe I got a bad one.
Any inputs guys?
Thanks!

sound like you have a bad solder connection on one of the relays in the DRL module.
Easy to repair yourself if you are handy with a soldering iron and flux.

So even though it's just the driver side high beam/DRL bulb intermittently not working. The DRL relay could be cause?

I may be incorrect but.....Thinking the 7th gen system puts the high beams in series (50% voltage each)
The most common source for bad solder would be the relays, and you can get poor solder at the pins for connector solder joints.
When its acting up, whack the control box case with a med size plastic screwdriver handle....if lights return/flicker etc, you likely have a bad solder.

Rep Power: 159 **solved** drl relay corroded solder joint
Here are some pictures, btw, how do you display the picture directly here instead of as an attachment?
I thought it would be a difficult job but it wasn't that hard, thanks to my recently acquired soldering skills.
