Trying to understand my set up!? 99' hatch w/d16y8

Hey all, Ive owned my civic now for a little over 2 years and I still have unanswered questions.
Im new to Honda so if I could get some collective knowledge it would be awsome!
1999 ek hatch. not sure on what model ek..
250,000 on the shell and 130,000 on the engine.
the original engine has been swapped for the D16Y8. vtec engages at 5600rpm and the rev limit hits at 7500rpm..?
Is this a jspec engine are there ways to tell?.
Its running a 92-95 si ecu so im guessing its converted OBD1?
I put ngk iridium spark plugs in it im wondering if they demand too much from recommended replacements..
the exhaust system is 2.5" and bares 2 o2 sensors. the before the cat is angled and has 3 wires from it. as well as the manifold ive been told is aftermarket however its got placement spots for a shroud. Mixed reviews. The muffler im unsure of its manufacturer , its quiet and looks like a 2.5" oem of some sort..

i have an issue once in a while after putting gas into it. its idle will lump and hesitate to run without throttle. i can smell that its running rich at alll times.
ive fixed oil leaks except for an under engine-sweat. but im still loosing oil/ occasional puffs of smoke/ small. when under hard acceleration in 1st, and highspeed rev match downshifts.

there are a few wires put in by hand around the distributor/solenoid that im unsure of as well.

Cars built after '96 are OBDII so your engine is probably pre '96 if it's OBD I

Check your VIN # for the exact EK series and the engine stamp for the exact engine that's in it. Check these threads for that info....

d16y8 engines are never OBDI in the 96-98 ex they were OBD2a and in 99-00 were OBD2b. it could however have a OBDI step-down harness. i do believe there is a jdm spec y8 but it would not have d16y8 stamped it would have zc stamped and would be missing the crank position sensor.
