Rep Power: 0 How to replace front brakes and rotors on 2007 Civic
Honda is trying to charge me $550 for front brakes and rotors and brake fluid change for my 2007 Honda civic LX. I purchased the front brakes and rotors myself just need help installing them. Anyone have a how to guide on replacing the brakes and rotors?

To be honest, $550 isn't all that bad for brakes, rotors and a fluid change.
What, $350 for parts and $200 to labor? Not bad, especially for Honda.
Are you sure you want to get into the brakes yourself? Improper installation can literally cause death. If you don't know how to do them, I wouldn't advise you do them yourself.
What happens if (WHEN) you run into a PITA bolt, break a slide pin or even worse; take the brakes off and find out your caliper is seized? Man, sometimes penny pinching just isn't worth the haste.
Then comes the fluid, which you SHOULD do. You need a "special" bottle if you are going to do it yourself and just hope that your bleeder valves loosen nicely and don't break off.
There is no DIY (I think) for bakes and rotors for 8th gens but they are pretty similar to almost all cars. Do some research first on how the brakes come apart. Here is a 7th gen DIY, not EXACTLY the same but like I said, they are all pretty similar.

***If you attempt a brake service, you and you alone are responsible for the safety of others on the road and your self; be careful If something seems wrong tow it to a shop.***
This video shows brakes on a civic.
BEFORE YOU PROCEED MAKE SURE YOU HAVE FULL UNDERSTANDING OF THE BRAKE BLEEDING PROCEDURE!!!
Make sure to bleed your brakes after the service.
Safety check:
Then go to a safe location and get the car up to 30km and brake softly 10 times.
then 30km brake hard 10 times.
then 60km soft 10 times.
60km hard 10 times.
If you can 100km brake to a full stop softly 2 times.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

There's a good reason professionals charge money for this work.
