Ok just wondering who else out there experiences surging in their Si? Mine is a 2011 with 2000 miles on it now, 6 spd tranny. Anytime you try to drive the car easy in or around town taking off this thing surges in first and second gear like when you were a kid learning to drive stick.I took it to the dealer and let them drive it as well as took them for a ride with me driving and the service guy is telling me that "yes it definately surges but that is normal for these Si's" ????? wtf How can that be normal? Anybody know anything about this?

What exactly do you mean? Are the revs just shooting all the way up and the car isn't going anywhere? If so, that is a clutch issue. If the car is actually pushing you back into your seat as this surge happens, that sounds about normal. It's hard to explain, but if it sounds like the latter, I think I know what you're talking about.

Yeah it is not a clutch issue as far as revving and slipping. It is more like putting your kid behind the wheel to go for a drive and as they take off easy and try to just ease into the gas this thing lurches back and forth making you feel like a bobble head through 1st and 2nd gear. It is downright annoying in town and the dealer claims this is normal for the Si. I love the car and it scoots down the road when you want it to, I just don't remember the one we test drove behaving like this at all at low rpm's(under 3000)??

I have the same problem with my 11 si through 1st and 2nd. The car will drive fine as long as I have my foot on the gas but as soon as I take it off the gas the car instantly jerks me forward in a rapid descent in speed its EFFING annoying! BTW my SI has roughly 11.5k miles on it and I had to take it to the dealer because the pressure plate and the clutch went out. The sad thing is that there was no evidence of my clutch slipping it just simply went out when I had the car in cruise; and the service rep at honda had the gull to tell me it went out cause I was racing and speed shifting. Neither of which I do.

they try to blame everything on the customer as much as they can
cuz they know they dont get paid extra for changing the clutch and pressure plate
lazy rep and techs, anyway you look at the civic the throttle is electronic, hence the older gen cars is direct wire from the gas pedal to the foot which gives direct response,
i drove 06-08 si and they all the same surges and toss u around in the seat if you press the gas or release the gas then the annoying rev hang.

thanks for the input guys, I can accept it as a nagging downfall of the car in comparison to the positives that I bought the car for. It don"t make me happy but it is what it is in this scenario. I just wanted to verify that mine wasn't the only one acting this way so that I could determine whether it was time to get a second dealers opinion or not while under warranty.
