I have a 94 civic 1.5L and coolant is has puddled on ground after turning car off. The heat is on by the way. What should I look for Any ideas! It's my daughter's car, but I get to fix it! Thanks for any help.

Re: Coolant leak

It ran ruff after a few minutes and then I turned it off. I can't tell if it's coming from the water pump, but it looks like the water got hot and melted a new cv boot I put in, damn.

Re: Coolant leak

If coolant is dripping from the weep hole at the bottom of the lower timing belt cover on the LEFT side of the oil pan, then the water pump almost surely must be replaced.

Re: Coolant leak

Could be the headgasket if its dripping all the way down to the oilpan...

Truth is, you gotta poke your head around with a flashlight or shoplight and figure out where its coming from exactly and then we can tell you how to fix it.

Re: Coolant leak

I corrected my previous post as I should have said LEFT side of the oil pan for a leaking water pump.

An external coolant leak from the head gasket is rare though not impossible. In addition, a blown head gasket would often be accompanied by other problems. A coolant leak from the water pump is more common, but as Triz says, try to precisely locate the source of the leak.
