Most are semi-sealed just to keep people like this out.

ha i actually like the servicable types, but sealed you dont have to worry about explosive gases venting out. the vented types do need DI water added as regular maintenance. most dont do this and the battery dies in a couple yrs when the plates are exposed to air.
