Drain coolant from radiator
remove thermostat housing
remove thermostat
replace with new thermostat
replace thermostat housing
fill radiator with coolant
bleed coolant system
take a nap
That's more or less it. I think I used my haynes manual as a guide when I did it. If you don't have one, you should grab one. It's a great guide to have.

Thermostat DIY:
1. You can either drain the coolant or disconnect the lower radiator hose and put it to the side. You'll lose a cup or two of coolant but, not a lot.
2. Disconnect the connector:
3. Unbolt the housing bolt:
4. Unbolt the other housing bolt:
5. Remove and replace the thermostat (it only goes in one way).
6. Replace the bolts, the connector, and the hose.
7. Bleed the system.
