ook so my civic runs like crap sometimes and sometimes it runs good..itll run good every like 2 or 3 times i shut the car off and start it back up..when its running bad everytime i push the clutch in and step on the gas i have to push the gas pedal in almost all the way down and it takes off really slow and the hole car shakes and the engine makes a real loud clanking sound idk if thats my motor mounts(which 2 of them are broke) or its just cuz the engine iz bad..but the guy i got it from said it was rebuilt 50k miles ago..and the engine light turns on everytime i turn the key on then after a few seconds shuts off so if anybody has any answers let me know..thanks

dont buy cars with rebuilt engines. if you do make sure the guy didnt do it himself and if he did have it inspected before you buy it. a lot of times people throw things together that just make the car run but not run quite right. you should find out exactly what the guy did to the engine and hope he can give you some answers. if he put it in there and the mounts are broke he probably screwed some other stuff up too

i dont think that he rebuilt the motor himself cuz he doesnt look like that type of person who can do that but when i first bought the car i wusnt hereing the clank noises at first till a month after and he told me stuff that wus wrong with the car and he didnt mention anything about broken motor mounts..and when i looked under neath the car i only saw the one broken motor mount at first then i looked at it recently when i was changed my cv boots on my axles that there was another motor mount broke so idk if i did it or they just broke or that guy broke em

Anyway, the clunking noise and shaking most likely comes from the engine mounts.
First things first, so you need to change them.
After changing mounts chacke if the acceleration will still be bad and if the shaking is still there.
Now for the engine light - they are supposed to come on and go off after a few seconds, so no problems there.
