Possible To Replace Motor Mount Stud (Alternator Side)? [solved]
Hello,
I have a 2005 civic, VP model, with a 1.7 SOHC engine. My question is in regards to the bracket that holds the alternator and also serves as a motor mount with two large studs pointing up (see image below). I recently snapped one of studs coming out of the bracket (bracket is image 1 and stud is image 14). A few Honda part sites sell the stud (item 14) as opposed to buying a used bracket for around $100.
Has anyone had any success with replacing these studs. Is there a technique to removing these? The replacement has threads that go into the bracket, but I don't know if at the factory a strong bonding agent is applied to keep these from coming out, or maybe even tac welded. I'd love to just replace the stud as opposed to buying a used bracket.
