So i bought my 2000 Honda Civic CX H/B for $4300.00 on July 10th, 2007.

the car has 246,800 kms. its standard. red. awesome condition. burns no oil.

The other day i find a 1997 Honda Civic CX H/B for $6295.00.

BUT he said he is very flexible with the price since he bought a Impreza just recently.

the reason i want this other civic.. is that it has 17" rims. 54,500 kms on a rebuilt engine. new cam gears. short shifter. and much more.

so im thinking of getting him down to ohh.. hopefully bout 5300-5500 perhaps.

and then sell mine. and buy that one.

my dad and mom say it is a stupid idea. since i know my car and how it runs.

i think its a smart idea to get a car with lower kms. some stuff done to it but not to much. and it just seems like a good all around car.

so what do you think? do you think its a stupid or smart idea? and why?

Listen to your parents. And "54,500kms on a rebuilt engine" absolutely does not mean that the engine only has 54,500kms on it - it means it's had that many on it since the rebuild.

And furthermore, why would you pay several thousand more for a car with someone else's bolt-ons?

keep ur car. You will encounter a ton of problems down the road with that one. At least your car you know where its at.

wow if the red one is yours, keep it. The other one thats silver is ugly as ****.

Just save up some cash and swap a k20 or something into your car and you will be happy.

I like your red one better. I say run that puppy into the ground until the engine goes; then swap a b18c or b16 in that sucker and mod that.

Until then just do the rims, suspension and exhaust and and intake.

Welcome to real life.

Financial priority goes: food, house, car, then mods. If your folks bought you the car, then you get a job, make your payments like everyone else, and then **** away your money on mods. Since you probably don't pay rent or buy groceries, you're already in better financial shape than most of us. You have a disposable income. Make your car payment and then dispose of the rest of your income on mods to your current car.

I like the red one better too. And considering home boy who's selling the silver hatch can't spell to save his life, I really wouldn't trust that he "rebuilt" the entire motor. He probably just replaced a head gasket.

here are some things he said on some emails he has sent to me.

here i asked pretty much if im getting get ****ed over if i buy the car.

"The civic has absolutly nothing wrong with it to my knowledge, and should run for a long long time. It has been my baby since I was 16, and has had nothing but Synthetic motor Oil in it, as well as premium gas (till recent price hikes now it's on regular). Only problems are that 2 of the summer tires may need to be replaced in the next year because the tred is getting down to it's bar, and other than that it runs perfectly."

here i asked where the engine was from and how many kms were on it when he bought it and when he rebuilt his tranny.

"I got the engine through our mechanic (been in the buisness for over 20 years, works at Saturn N Saab in Calgary, used to work at Honda in calgary), his name is Peter Sullivan (He is an old family friend of my father). Then engine was marked as having around 32,000km on it (not 100% sure but it was somthing very young, I have it writen down in my car so If you need exact I have that). Now when I replaced the tranny I'll have to look that up in my book, but it was a few years back."

and this one i asked how low he will go and he said.

"Well we need the money to pay for our wedding, and my absolute bottom low is $5,500. At that I can't let the sub and amp go. Wish I could do more for you, but the money is already committed, and needed. There isn't a huge rush on my end to sell it, so maybe your parents will come around or you'll get a good offer on yours."

I've met with the guy and looked at the car. hes a nice white man in his high 20's.

Yeah, because he's going to say anything other than what you want to hear. "It's a piece of garbage and it's going to break in a week" wouldn't exactly sell his car, now would it? Oh, and premium gas in it is worthless unless he's running high compression internals/forced induction/constantly spraying. Enjoy the engine buildup.

That car is absolutely not worth $5500. And I'll throw in a bonus for you thinking he's going to tell you what the absolute lowest he'll go is.

Most people quit digging themselves a hole when they hit rock-bottom - you, on the other hand, have seen fit to break out the dynamite. Seriously. Just stop. Be thankful that your father was kind enough to be an interest-free loan to you, and just enjoy the car you have.

haha dude .. i use to be like u when i was 16 maan..... my parents told me the same **** .. no, no and no... after that .. i work hard, make my own payment to the car and help my parents out on house spends... i got performance for the car.. everytime i got money left over.. is not a big deal maan... most of the time parents are right ... go wit the flow

99-00 Civics > 96-98 Civics

1999-2000 model Civics Looks alot Nicer..

The 97 silver Civic is all Riced-out! Is that what you like? Might as well go to Pep Boys and buy those cheap mods for your current 2000 Civic I see that you're 16 so you're probably in your Rice stage.

I bought a 1999 Civic EX coupe for $5,100 with 109,000 Miles 4 years ago at an auction. It's an EX not the cheap DX Civic, My car has Alot More miles Now and it's still running Well

My point is: Don't pay attention to the Miles or Km that the car may have. My 1999 Civic has the Original SOHC Vtec engine Not some rebuilt engine from a local mechanic Etc.. It all depends on how well you take Care of your car and how well you Maintain it.

From the Looks of the 2000 Silver Civic that guy must have been obviously stomping on the gas alot and/or street racing, or probably he got into an accident, who knows?Etc... Why would you need a rebuilt engine on a 2000 Honda?? Just stay with your car.

alright! **** the civic im keeping mine!

so to start it off. do universal mufflers fit on civics? someone said they dont so im just checking. or should i just get an axle back from www.mufflertech.com

and just to give my car a better look i found some used rims that im buying for 150 with tires .!
