$24,000 Dollars what should i do?

Okay i have a delima lol. I have 24,000 dollars getting out the army and i have nooo idea what to do lol. Ive already done a k swap on my car, but im thinking of going more. I figure i pay off all my debts 6000.. So that leaves 18,000. Ill put away like 10,000 for later in life and gives me 8000 dollars to spend on my car.

So Now 8000 what do you think:
1) Toda Racing engine kit w/kpro $2350 ----- $5650
2) Toda race header & sway bar $1245 ------ $4405
3) RC 550cc Fuel Injectors w/clips $410 ----- $3995
4) Toda Racing Stroker Kit 2132cc $3900 ---- $95

Fully built engine basically N/A

then there is always

8000
1) K-Pro ECU $995 --------------------------- $7005
2) Cybernations Stage 2 Turbo kit $5229 -- $1776
3) Crower Stage 2 -FI Cams $723 ---------- $1053
4) ACT Organic Clutch $491 -------------------$562

Or feel free to give me any other suggestions.

Current Mods to my car:

Engine:K20A DC5R -------------- Transmision:DC5R

import2nr 12-07-2005 03:13 PM

CN is def the way to go. That mated with the kpro is sooo bad ass.

Thuener 12-07-2005 03:14 PM

dude don't spend 8k on ur car, u already have a very nice list of mods. getting outta debt, and saving 10k is nice, but 8k dude.. imagine what you could do with that. I'd save it for something else.

eye_see_you 12-07-2005 03:14 PM

I would vote for the stage 2 turbo with k/pro tuned from stoopid aka jason in H town man

blouisgod 12-07-2005 03:15 PM

save/ invest

TransformedBG 12-07-2005 03:19 PM

Saving $10,000 Going into cd's or money market accounts. 8000 is just toy money..

southpasdena 12-07-2005 03:28 PM

Save and invest. How old are you? you should already know the answer, you got to prepare for your future and not waste money. The goodies come later on, it just takes time. Investing how, i cant say, im 19 and i am just putting money into my IRA, and looking at the growth, after putting in anothe $14,000 over the next 3-5 years, i should retire with almost a million in just my IRA alone. FUTURE, think about the future. Hell with that much, you dont even need to save much else, you can spend about $100,000 each year and the next year you will still have 1,000,000 minus infaltion.

nick95673 12-07-2005 03:32 PM

get a job at a company that will match a % of what you contribute to the co 401k and turn your 24k in to 36k overnight. with only investing 36k then quitting that company and never paying in to that account again with a 5% return you would have 45k in 5 years, 58k in 10 years, 74k in 15 years and 95k in 20 years. so you can have a civic with a turbo brrrrrrrrruuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmmmm pshiiii brummmmmmmmmmmmmmm phsiii and run 1/4s at still slow speeds or you can have a 911 4s cabriolet when you retire. personally the future is the way to go.

TransformedBG 12-07-2005 03:36 PM

Yeah i know what to do with money... ive been putting away, and paying and doing other goodeis and gum drops.. lol Im 23. Half way done with college. FULLY COVERD due to Army college fund. I actually am going to start making money now that ill be able to go to college full time. Plus Disability check every month, and then i can work a part time job if i want to. But i dont have to worry about a house or anything, its all coverd. So i have plenty of time to prepare for a futcher that may not come cause i could die walking across the street. But Its better safe than sorry. Dont worry, i have money tucked away for a rainy day. Ive been To iraq and back.. jees.. Just choose not to pay all my debts off so i can build credit. Hince why my score is now 798. Okay now that we have it established i know how to prepare for my future.. TUNING CAR.. What to do next lol.

xX03EXx 12-07-2005 03:39 PM

You would kinda be wasting the K20a by going turbo considering you should have just gone a2 if you had a turbo in mind initially. You will yield much better numbers with a turbo setup and with 8 grand it will be reliable. It is up to you. I would go turbo. Traction sucks tho.

nick95673 12-07-2005 03:41 PM

sale the civic and buy a 3 series.

Mutha Fn FBM 85 12-07-2005 03:42 PM

I say save it. If you really want to spend it on your car then turbo.

eye_see_you 12-07-2005 03:44 PM

lets see i'm 26, 8 years in the military , I get disability , make 6 figures because I work in the IT sector , have a 401k that is matched 100% by what I put in .. I already have over 50k in that.. I would still go for doing more things to the civic .. :-D just because i've seen it in person and would love to see what else it can do

ManUtd0018 12-07-2005 04:13 PM

After reading your suspension section you didn't mention any upgrades to the rear sway bar. IMO, you should get a progress rear sway bar.
As far as spending 8k, i say do it. You might die tomorrow, shit you could've died in Iraq. The people on this website will likely spend close to 8k on their cars overall. So what if you do it all at once. I spent almost 4 on mine including everything.
Sure, i have an IRA too, and i contribute to it yearly. I recommend that too.

TransformedBG 12-07-2005 04:19 PM

I mean ive already hit the $30,000 Mark on my car, and it doesnt look like much but its paid off lol. So whats anouther 8 grand? lol. I need some sponsors lol. But let me throw a twist in to this.. what if i want to set my car up for SCCA style racing vs Drag. :D

acidbaby 12-07-2005 04:47 PM

1) K-Pro ECU $995 --------------------------- $7005
2) Cybernations Stage 2 Turbo kit $5229 -- $1776
3) Crower Stage 2 -FI Cams $723 ---------- $1053
4) ACT Organic Clutch $491 -------------------$562

nismostreets21 12-07-2005 07:23 PM

turbo

i would definatly turbo it and the invest it man it will def. pay off in the long run... and then you wont kick your self in the ass for spending it all

dre2600 12-07-2005 07:32 PM

If you're so keen on going fast you should just go and buy a liter bike or something :) Make sure its a Honda though. It'll go a lot faster than most things out there wit 4 wheels.

If you start going FI and modding hardcore, there will be maintenance costs implicit in all those things that you might want to plan ahead for. If you turbo a K20A, shattered axles come to mind, or internals starting to get sketchy.

centurioncivic 12-07-2005 07:40 PM

go the all motor route. you have a high compression motor already so by turboing, thats not gonna be good unless you plan on getting low comp. internals. i think a type r motor turbod is a waste because you coulda just done the type s and turboed it and been putting out hellish numbers if you wanted to go that route.

TemjinX2 12-07-2005 07:56 PM

I say sell your type R for $5000 and buy a k20a3 for $1k then spend $8k on turbo and internals. Net cost $4k. You still have 20k to play with lol. K20a3, cheaper engine, lower compression, wider gears to stay in boost longer.

If you think thats gonna take too much time, i say just boost it

_Viper_ 12-07-2005 08:17 PM

I would sell your car and get a type S

texascivic2k1 12-07-2005 08:27 PM

First off I solute you and "eye_see_you" for serving our country. Then solute you for another nice a$s 7th gen Civic in Texas!

Okay people... he is looking for suggestions on what to do with his car not his life... With $10,000 saved and invested at the age of 23 w/an good job... he has a damn good start. He has served his time and now wants to play.

I think you should go with this one...

$8,000
1) K-Pro ECU $995 --------------------------- $7005
2) Cybernations Stage 2 Turbo kit $5229 -- $1776
3) Crower Stage 2 -FI Cams $723 ---------- $1053
4) ACT Organic Clutch $491 -------------------$562

Good Luck with whatever you do... keep us posted... Thanks.

texascivic2k1

TransformedBG 12-07-2005 08:51 PM

Oh if all you look at a cybernations stage 2 kit.. it comes with

1) T3/T4,60-1 or 62-1 Turbo
2) Custom Manifold
3) Turbo Piping
4) Wastegate
5) Apexi S-AFC
6) Spearco Intercooler
7) Intercooler Piping
8) Blow Off Valve
9) 550cc Injectors
10) Vortec FMU
11) Piston and Rods
12) 250psi Fuel/Oil Lines
13) Air Fuel and Boost Gauge
14) Cybernation Black Magaic II ELF

Look at number 11 and stop saying K20A3. The K20A Tranny for that matter has a higher top end cause of the gear ratio. The bottom end is a lot stronger, Which is why i was thinking about keeping it NA tuned Not to sacrafice the name of the K20A\DC5R Engine. I mean i do a lot of driving. I go in a straight line and like to do track raceing. I mean both systems have ther ups and downs its true. Turbo = Maintence but with Higher HP whereas NA = Reliablity and lower HP, but ide still be able to put about 250 to the wheels. Isnt bad. Only problem is fuel. Both of them i am going to have to figure out the octane lvls that i need to properly run the engine, and have it tuned at. I kind of figured a lot of you would say turbo. But its still a little ify to me. Ive thought about supercharging my K20, but i wrote jackson racing and recived no responce as to if it would fit or not.

I love the feel that a turbo makes, but at the same time VTEC isnt that bad eaither. So i mean seriously. Think of it this way. If you were going to do a specific kind of racing *most of you are going to go in a straight line i would think Turbo for sure* but what if i want to take turn, traction issues broken axles *I mean yeah i have 400hp axles but hey $hit happens*... Its just so much to think about.

spudracer326 12-07-2005 09:12 PM

N/A
There was an article in sport compact where they N/A built a k20a2 and got 317 wheel horse power. That is more then enough in my book.

On a 115 octane gas.. See that in the pumps?:giggle: ide hate to pay track prices at 8 bucks a gal.

diskreet 12-07-2005 09:36 PM

if you want more power get a damn supercharger and boost upgrade pully and be done. its the cheapest decent gains on a K.

TransformedBG 12-07-2005 10:04 PM

Thought about that.. but will it fit in a k swaped civic. i want pictures if it does.

Boilermaker1 12-07-2005 10:11 PM

My suggestion is to save a bunch of money for a rainy day or a house or invest a pile.
Pick up a set of IPS cams, the KPro, have yourself one of those high end headers (Lovefab, Hytech, whatever), ITBs, tune the mofo and go have a field day. Spend the rest of it on NOT the car. Should you decide to go a little faster... the JDM CR-V 5.03 final drive gear

schematicsskate 12-07-2005 10:54 PM

I say turbo, nothing beats that BOV after a nice shift

were you in iraq?

kasimmmmm 12-07-2005 10:59 PM

invest it..

kirks04ex 12-07-2005 10:59 PM

boost

Oooh, 5.03 final drive gear and JDM :) Its like the new pinnacle of JDM 31337-ness, its only a matter of time before there will be "5.03" decals right next to the "TypeR" and "VTEC" decals now, j/k

turboengnr 12-07-2005 11:04 PM

Sell the car and buy a 2001 corvette zo6

TransformedBG 12-08-2005 12:08 AM

anyone who says sell or save again is getting bad rep. I just ask an opinion on what to do with the car. Not my life. Money is going in to it that is my FINAL ANSWER!

EM2typeflex 12-08-2005 01:37 AM

^^
Alright then...
high compression & boost you know is a bad combination. Just ask joedc5, that's how the poor guy blew his itr.

Then again, alot of k20a2 owners are making up to 450hp on their stock block, what's that extra .5 difference.

Honestly, since you got an itr, I'd probably go all motor, and since you're already looking into TODA, get their head package and their itb's.

There you have it buddy.

mrchowmein 12-08-2005 02:25 AM

save and invest that moolah and buy your self a m5 or something hehe.

FingerJ 12-08-2005 02:36 AM

SAVE! yo cash!!

ZapThyCat 12-08-2005 02:42 AM

Why not save $18g instead of just 10? That money could come in handy later. I mean, if you invested that money wisely, you could make it into major cash. Rather than just sinking it into a car...

If you do anything, do something cheaper along the lines of what you want with the car... turbo for speed, or whatever for looks. I wouldn't pump more than like 3k into a car though, ever.

unluckyninja619 12-08-2005 03:03 AM

go buy a bike, r6. hehe:)

I hope that answers your question. I know thats a k20a3 but your k20a should have a similar fit i think  .

SLO REX 12-08-2005 06:13 AM

Glen do what you want...*hint* boost it *hint* (By the way the meet is Dec 11, this weekend.)

Jrfish007 12-08-2005 06:41 AM

I think you will have traction problems now...

I would honestly go a differrent car or even a bike, but if u really want to stick it to the vic, go N/A. reason is that a turbo will make gobs of torque, and while we all like torque, a FWD car is going to have problem with that. N/A will give you lots of topend, you probably will not have the tractions problems you will have with turbo. But you could get a progressive boost control and ignition control system to tone odwn the power in the beggining.

h0nd4_r1c3r_X 12-08-2005 07:12 AM

supercharge!!!!

exturbo6 12-08-2005 08:12 AM

both of your options are awsome...

but...

i think you should do N/A..alot more reliable i think.

MYK1013 12-08-2005 08:21 AM

i say save it, ur ride has a kickass mod list already.
how about a down payment for another car?
