Rep Power: 255 $24,000 Dollars what should i do?
Okay i have a delima lol. I have 24,000 dollars getting out the army and i have nooo idea what to do lol. Ive already done a k swap on my car, but im thinking of going more. I figure i pay off all my debts 6000.. So that leaves 18,000. Ill put away like 10,000 for later in life and gives me 8000 dollars to spend on my car.
So Now 8000 what do you think:
1) Toda Racing engine kit w/kpro $2350 ----- $5650
2) Toda race header & sway bar $1245 ------ $4405
3) RC 550cc Fuel Injectors w/clips $410 ----- $3995
4) Toda Racing Stroker Kit 2132cc $3900 ---- $95
Fully built engine basically N/A
then there is always
8000
1) K-Pro ECU $995 --------------------------- $7005
2) Cybernations Stage 2 Turbo kit $5229 -- $1776
3) Crower Stage 2 -FI Cams $723 ---------- $1053
4) ACT Organic Clutch $491 -------------------$562
Or feel free to give me any other suggestions.
Current Mods to my car:
Engine:K20A DC5R -------------- TransmisionC5R
Mugen Thermostat --------------- 4.79 Final Drive
Mugen Radiator cap -------------- Honda LSD
AEM SRI --------------------------- Hasport Level 2 200-400 Axles
Apexi WS II Cat Back ------------ DC Sports Short Shift kit
Hasport Stage 2 Motor mounts
Suspension: ------------------------ ICE:
Tien SS Springs -------------------- 25% Rear window tint
Megan Front Strut bar ------------- 35% Front Window tint
Megan Rear StruT Bar ------------- Alpine 9835(number?) Deck
Megan Tie Bar ---------------------- Alpine Ipod Interface
SPC Camber correction Kit -------- Alpine 6x9 Type R x2
BF Goodwrench KDW 205/45/r16 - Alpine 10" Type R x2

Rep Power: 228 dude don't spend 8k on ur car, u already have a very nice list of mods. getting outta debt, and saving 10k is nice, but 8k dude.. imagine what you could do with that. I'd save it for something else.

Save and invest. How old are you? you should already know the answer, you got to prepare for your future and not waste money. The goodies come later on, it just takes time. Investing how, i cant say, im 19 and i am just putting money into my IRA, and looking at the growth, after putting in anothe $14,000 over the next 3-5 years, i should retire with almost a million in just my IRA alone. FUTURE, think about the future. Hell with that much, you dont even need to save much else, you can spend about $100,000 each year and the next year you will still have 1,000,000 minus infaltion.

Rep Power: 264 get a job at a company that will match a % of what you contribute to the co 401k and turn your 24k in to 36k overnight. with only investing 36k then quitting that company and never paying in to that account again with a 5% return you would have 45k in 5 years, 58k in 10 years, 74k in 15 years and 95k in 20 years. so you can have a civic with a turbo brrrrrrrrruuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmmmm pshiiii brummmmmmmmmmmmmmm phsiii and run 1/4s at still slow speeds or you can have a 911 4s cabriolet when you retire. personally the future is the way to go.

Rep Power: 255 Yeah i know what to do with money... ive been putting away, and paying and doing other goodeis and gum drops.. lol Im 23. Half way done with college. FULLY COVERD due to Army college fund. I actually am going to start making money now that ill be able to go to college full time. Plus Disability check every month, and then i can work a part time job if i want to. But i dont have to worry about a house or anything, its all coverd. So i have plenty of time to prepare for a futcher that may not come cause i could die walking across the street. But Its better safe than sorry. Dont worry, i have money tucked away for a rainy day. Ive been To iraq and back.. jees.. Just choose not to pay all my debts off so i can build credit. Hince why my score is now 798. Okay now that we have it established i know how to prepare for my future.. TUNING CAR.. What to do next lol.

Rep Power: 276 You would kinda be wasting the K20a by going turbo considering you should have just gone a2 if you had a turbo in mind initially. You will yield much better numbers with a turbo setup and with 8 grand it will be reliable. It is up to you. I would go turbo. Traction sucks tho.

Rep Power: 363 lets see i'm 26, 8 years in the military , I get disability , make 6 figures because I work in the IT sector , have a 401k that is matched 100% by what I put in .. I already have over 50k in that.. I would still go for doing more things to the civic .. :-D just because i've seen it in person and would love to see what else it can do

Rep Power: 0 After reading your suspension section you didn't mention any upgrades to the rear sway bar. IMO, you should get a progress rear sway bar.
As far as spending 8k, i say do it. You might die tomorrow, **** you could've died in Iraq. The people on this website will likely spend close to 8k on their cars overall. So what if you do it all at once. I spent almost 4 on mine including everything.
Sure, i have an IRA too, and i contribute to it yearly. I recommend that too.

Rep Power: 0 If you're so keen on going fast you should just go and buy a liter bike or something Make sure its a Honda though. It'll go a lot faster than most things out there wit 4 wheels.
If you start going FI and modding hardcore, there will be maintenance costs implicit in all those things that you might want to plan ahead for. If you turbo a K20A, shattered axles come to mind, or internals starting to get sketchy.

Rep Power: 0 go the all motor route. you have a high compression motor already so by turboing, thats not gonna be good unless you plan on getting low comp. internals. i think a type r motor turbod is a waste because you coulda just done the type s and turboed it and been putting out hellish numbers if you wanted to go that route.

Rep Power: 296 I say sell your type R for $5000 and buy a k20a3 for $1k then spend $8k on turbo and internals. Net cost $4k. You still have 20k to play with lol. K20a3, cheaper engine, lower compression, wider gears to stay in boost longer.
If you think thats gonna take too much time, i say just boost it

Rep Power: 255 Oh if all you look at a cybernations stage 2 kit.. it comes with
1) T3/T4,60-1 or 62-1 Turbo
2) Custom Manifold
3) Turbo Piping
4) Wastegate
5) Apexi S-AFC
6) Spearco Intercooler
7) Intercooler Piping
8) Blow Off Valve
9) 550cc Injectors
10) Vortec FMU
11) Piston and Rods
12) 250psi Fuel/Oil Lines
13) Air Fuel and Boost Gauge
14) Cybernation Black Magaic II ELF
Look at number 11 and stop saying K20A3. The K20A Tranny for that matter has a higher top end cause of the gear ratio. The bottom end is a lot stronger, Which is why i was thinking about keeping it NA tuned Not to sacrafice the name of the K20A\DC5R Engine. I mean i do a lot of driving. I go in a straight line and like to do track raceing. I mean both systems have ther ups and downs its true. Turbo = Maintence but with Higher HP whereas NA = Reliablity and lower HP, but ide still be able to put about 250 to the wheels. Isnt bad. Only problem is fuel. Both of them i am going to have to figure out the octane lvls that i need to properly run the engine, and have it tuned at. I kind of figured a lot of you would say turbo. But its still a little ify to me. Ive thought about supercharging my K20, but i wrote jackson racing and recived no responce as to if it would fit or not.
I love the feel that a turbo makes, but at the same time VTEC isnt that bad eaither. So i mean seriously. Think of it this way. If you were going to do a specific kind of racing *most of you are going to go in a straight line i would think Turbo for sure* but what if i want to take turn, traction issues broken axles *I mean yeah i have 400hp axles but hey $hit happens*... Its just so much to think about.

Rep Power: 399 My suggestion is to save a bunch of money for a rainy day or a house or invest a pile.
Pick up a set of IPS cams, the KPro, have yourself one of those high end headers (Lovefab, Hytech, whatever), ITBs, tune the **** and go have a field day. Spend the rest of it on NOT the car. Should you decide to go a little faster... the JDM CR-V 5.03 final drive gear
