Help. Engine light came on.
2002 LX Automatic w/ about 13,000 miles
I put in the HP 4-1 headers w/ high flow cat about 3 months ago. I got an O2 Sim for it about 2 months ago. Now for some strange reason I noticed yesterday that my engine light was on. Got to work today checked the O2 sim wires attached to the ECU and everything seems to be fine.
I was thinking that the engine light was due to the O2 Sim possibly being defective.
Could it be possible that the O2 sim from Lake Performance is bad? It's the only thing I can think of that would be throwing the check engine light.
Car seems to run fine and shift gears ok. Oil light isn't on so I'm assuming it's not low oil. And yes I did check the gas cap

that is true that honda has the check engine light come on at certain milages. To reset the check engine light. Do this:
1. Turn off car
2. Push and hold in trip reset button (odometer)
3. Start car while still holding the reset button
4. Let go and it should start blinking and turn off

AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! He is NOT talking about the MAINTENENCE LIGHT!!!!
Hey Alienmonkey
1) check to make sure everything is installed correctly
2) Reset the ECU by taking off the battery cable for 10 min.
3) hopefully it will go off.
4) I can recommend a shop in the area that maybe able to help.

Thanks robbclark1 I tried my best to say it's not the maintenance light. I've already taken care of that at 8,000-10,000 miles when it came on.
I'm wondering if it is a bad spark plug. I've read that the oem spark plugs are not the best. I've ordered a set of Denso Iridium IK22's. Gonna try changing them (planned to do so anyway, just getting around to it). If that don't work, I'm gonna try to disconnect the battery for about 10 minutes and see if that helps. I had disconnected the ECU plugs for a little bit(didn't want to lose my radio settings again, but I'll disconnect the battery the next time.
I doubt it's a bad sensor. I have no cat and I took care of that problem with an O2 simulator from LakePerformance parts. The O2 sim could be bad, but I'm gonna switch the plugs out and disconnect the battery before I send back the O2 and get a new one.
Thanks for all the help. And to clarify things it's not the Yellow MAINT light in the lower center of the guage pod, it is the Orange light shaped like an engine on the Left of the Guage pod.
On a side note robbclark1 if you know of a good paint place I can get a polyurethane kit done at for a reasonable price PM me please.

ok the way i understand it is that the CHECK ENGINE light doesnt just turn off. ... like when ur gascap isnt tight (for example) tightening it wont make the light go off, u will need to reset it. so i would assume that putting diff spark plugs in wont fix ur problem, u need to reset the freaking light.
i had it come on twice, both times i had a messed up cat, (the HX has two i think and one was bad)...so i went threw some stress already...
