Changing Manual Transmission Fluid DIY and Micron Filter DIY ?? DIY's needed
Hello,
Does Anyone have, or can Link me to a nice DIY on Changing Transmission Fluid for a Manual Transmission (02' Coupe HX)
If not could anyone type a step by step
Along the Same Lines,
Does Anyone Have, or can link me to a Nice DIY on Changing the Micron Filters?!?!?
From What I understand, the 02 Civic's have Two of them, under the Passanger Side Dash.
They Act like a HEPA filter. I personaly think this is rather pointless, once you open the door all those micro particles are back in the car.
Dealer wants $88 to change them and $40 for the filters.
Thanks

the filter part is in the manual i think. you have to pull out the clips that hold up your glove compartment and then open the vent panel where the filters go. cant help you on the transmission part.
I have changed my tranny fluid on my 02ex manual sedan many times. look in your manual and it should point out where the bolt is located. The "filler bolt" is 17mm. The "drain bolt" is 3/8 of an inch. You directly attached your rachet to the end of the drain bolt, it has a square pattern. Make sure to purchase the two washers for the 2 bolts at the dealership, these washer's crush a little thinner when you tighten them down to form a better seal. I believe your tranny takes about 1.6-1.7 qts of 10w-30 wt. oil. Use a synthetic like amsoil or such. Fill your tranny with a funnel integrated with a long tube which can be purchased at any auto parts store. Stick the tube end in the filler hole, fill till your tranny till it can't take anymore fluid. Wipe excess and put the 17mm bolt with one of the new washers back on, and you are done. It takes me about 10-15min. total to drain all the fluid out, fill and clean up.

The manual also gives a Good Location of the Transmission Filler Bolt on Page 222 But

But one Question !!
On page 222 of 02 owners manual, it looks as if thier are Four bolts the Top one, being the Filler Bolt,
Where is the Drain Bolt in relation to the Filler Bolt, is it visible on the Diagram ?!?!
thanks for the tip on the washers !?!? wouldn't think of that
Also Bear ?!?!?
I have a post under the brake forum, about bleeding the brakes, do you know how to do that ??
the drain bolt is below the filler bolt, about 4-6in. below. It is the only one that has a square pattern recessed in the head of the bolt, it is of 3/8in. size, yiour rachet or 3/8in breaker bar will fit right inside the recessed 3/8in. square head. hope that helps.
