looking for amps...
Hey
I just got my Alpine SPR-694A 6by9's and SPR-176A components. Now I need something to power them. Since I'm only a 16-year old school boy, who can't get a job yet (because i dont have a green card (im here under a visa)), and who's building up a "bumpable" system with his lunch money, I need to get something cheap, yet good. I have these two configurations in mind:
Pioneer GM-X572 2-channel amp for the rear
Pioneer GM-X972 2-channel amp for the front/stage
or
Sony XM-280GTX 2-channel amp for the rear
Sony XM-2165GTX 2-channel amp for the front/stage
The amps for the front/stage are slightly more powerful than the amps for the rear, since, from what I've heard, a configuration like this would bring more quality.
Please tell me what you think of these two choices, or if you'd go with something completely different.
Thanks in advance

what model year are those pioneers? and are they the primier line, or are they the best buy line? best buy has recetly had some problems with their pioneer amplifiers, there wa sa recal a couple montsh back on this years models.....
my buddy has the sony "760" watt amp in his 4runner, it sbeen in there for a very long time, years, still runs good, and gets the job done...
although a buddy of mine took 2nd place at his very first SQ competition with qforms and a single 10w7, with PIONEER amplifiers all round (proof that install is everything)

no idea, i naturally assumed the really nice ones you see, you know, that have silver lines down teh middle of large ridges and innovative caps and suh are the premier line, whereas the ones you can buy at best buy, that are brushed silver, flashy as hell, and have words printed on the outside (usually numbers representing 3-5 times the amopunt of real power they produce) are the regular line.
correct me if im wrong, but even if they dont have a preimier line, they DO have separate lines of amplifiers, i merely called the higher end line premier

hmm.. what type of problems did they have?
kenwoods pretty good (got a kenwood HU) but they dont make anything in my price range with the specs that i have in mind.
I'm sort of starting to lean towards the Sony amps... since i already have a D-block amp by sony which is powering my subs... but then again, the pioneer amps say that they have a built-in crossover in it. Are the built-in crossovers usually of good quality? or would i still have to go and buy a separate one?

I agree with that. Thats what I chose to do in the end. Amp the front, and run the rears off deck power.
Generally I would never get or recommend Sony car products. I have never been impressed much with them.
As far as Pioneer products they are generally well worth the money and do what they advertise. The amps are usually good quality. Decks are superb and I have never had a problem with one. Speakers are a hit and miss. There are some good ones and some **** ones.
